Hey guys and gals, long time reader, first time poster (insert JONG comment here).
Anyway, I need some advice on skis. I need a versitile ski that is good in powder but does well on the groomers. Based on my on snooping, I like the sound of the scratch sprayer bc, (especially for the price). I have, however heard complaints that this ski is a bit too flexible.
Anyone tried them/own them?
Should I just suck it up and get the WRS?
Any comments/advice appreciated.
If your not totally hooked on the Scratch there are some better options out there for ya. When you mentioned the fact that yes the Sprayer does tend to be a little on the flexy side, check out the Dynastar Big Trouble. Definately a ski that can do almost everything on the mountain well. Its not super wide by any means but can still eat up the crud and pow, plus once your back on the groomers in my opinion you have one of the best skiing twin tips out there.
The BC WRS is probably the only Scratch ski I would take anywhere other than the park. I bought one at the end of the season, going to be my dicking around ski for next year (inbounds, day tours, etc) and trust me... they aren't by any means stiff. A stiff rossi ski is the Squad, The scratch series are all significantly less stiff. Asking for a "versatile" ski is way too vague. versatile means different things for different people. Otherwise post more info about your skiing background, as well as what you plan on skiing on your new sticks.
either volkl karmas or head mojo 90s might fit the bill for you based on just the information you've given. similar dimensions to the sprayer BCs but in a stiffer ski.
right now i ski foils everywhere on the east coast and love them from groomers to the couple pow(ish) days we skied in quebec, and for just messing around in the park. my only complaint is that for the more all mountin skiing i do wish they were a bit stiffer and that i had poneyed up the extra bit of cash for karmas.
if you're afraid that scratches might be soft for you, get a pair of mantras, of stiff BROs or - if you have money - of DPS wailers 105

I ski both this years BC WRS and sprayer BC.
If those two are your only choices(and I think they are good choices) it depends on how much you ski pow and groomers.
The BC WRS are still pretty easy to manage on the groomed runs and are obviously way better in pow than the Sprayer. Plus, they shouldnt be that more expensive(at least in Europe). I just got the Sprayer BCs as some pretty cheap skis for the days that I know I only want to ski park and groomers.
So unless you do a lot of rails or almost exclusively ski groomers I would suggest the BC WRS.
BC WRS with bindings have been sold at about 220-260 in ebay here in yurp
Self moderation is going down the drain. This guy should have been called a jong fuck, and told to find his way to the recomended ski thread, and manufacturers websites to do his own fucking work.
Since I'm here though, take a look at the armada jp vs juliens, and the arvs.
Heres worried about the Scrath's being to soft and you recommended one of the softer skis out there for this category the ARV. Dont go with the ARV its comparable to a WET NOODLE!!!!Quote:

The Sprayer is significantly softer than the Scratch. It's an OK ski for short Midwestern runs when it isn't too icy, but I'd only use it "out West" as a rock ski. Kinda fun for slithering through bumps too, but don't expect any spring from them. They're not an attacking ski to be sure. Cruiser and that's about it.
They are attractively priced though. That's why I got mine. I'll use them until they break. They aren't worth a dime on the re-seller's market though.
Dont overlook the K2 Public Enemy,little stiffer than the sprayer,just a hair narrower and an incredible all mountain ride.Great deal as well specially if you can catch em on SAC.
I "like" my Sprayer's. Good price, bounce, and turnabilty. Not great for pow...but always taken if conditions are unknown

Thanks for the responses. I have done a decent amount of product research and have looked at the recommended ski thread. I was just looking for some honest firsthand accounts from people who have tried them.
And thanks leroy for calling me a jong, better to pop that cherry early I suppose. :D
