My first whitewater kayaking - a TR

Alright, I'm making the best of Texas that can be made. We found out about a WW park in Ft. Worth and a buddy of mine has a few recreational kayaks. So we decided we would go make some runs down the rapids. It says its class II+, but I imagine that is relative to the CFS. Anyways it was a blast and we had a great time, and I think I've found yet another hobby to make my wallet cringe...

Yup. First purchase, brain bucket.

Keep that paddle dug in when blasting thru holes! WW boating is POW(D)ER. Waist deep every time you go. And it doesn't get tracked out.

Going to disagree here. Whitewater kayaking is finesse and timing. I don't care how strong you are, the river is stronger.

Agreed. Its incredibly powerful, a helmet is crucial for that stuff.

yep. learning how to read the river and knowing where (and where not) to be is most important. the river is always stronger.

I like powder. You get to ski and then paddle it again in the spring.
