I fly in Thursday night...@ Alta Friday thru closing Sunday. I've never come out for a closing weekend, expecting lots of party and lil snow...but more than mid Jan when I was out last.
My brother can't join me Friday with work or Saturday with his wife running the marathon.
PM me if anyone is around or planning.
Heading that way, maybe even tonight to ski SnowBird...
Chitown: in case you missed it before:

Edit: Chitown's actually a great guy (when he's not sending "in your face" snow reports to you on deep pow weekends when he knows you can't ski); some of you 'tards should try to catch up with him.
I'll be there.
bump, pow day?
friday will be, they hopefully will space out the openings so that some of us slackers that can't make it up friday can get some freshies.
know supreme lift is shut down, but will that side of the mt be closed off or can i do a long slog over?
It should be pretty sporting up there.
Damn. I was hoping to hike for some turns today.Quote:
The main concern today will be wind slabs created from last night's wind and snow. Avalanche workers in Little Cottonwood Canyon expect that these would be quite widespread. The winds last night were blowing 40 gusting to 60 on the highest peaks from the west. ... Although Alta ski area is closed today, they are closed to uphill traffic because they will be doing avalanche control tomorrow and possibly this morning in preparation for their scheduled reopening tomorrow and the weekend...
