Let's say >75% of releases on a specific 912/914/916/920 binding left the heel piece still engaged, then does this mean the binding is likely not set optimally? I.E. Does it mean an increase in forward pressure would help? Or could this be "by design" for >75% of the types of falls I am taking?
Hmmm...I have nearly eliminated pre-releases, so part of me is telling me I shouldn't mess with it too much.

doesnt that just mean youre twisting out of the binding either from lateral forces or a backseat type release?
wouldnt hurt to dbl check forward pressure, toe height, and the toe wings, but like you said, if youre not prereleasing then somethings right.
or you can just be like Harbl Sanders and crank the toe height down for some added downward pressure But be careful, he knows what hes doing and never falls :p
The toepiece and heelpiece release under different types of falls. They're not designed to each release 50% of the time (unless exactly 50% of your falls are forward over-the-bars and 50% are twisting.)
