I'm right between L and XL. Input?
Loose some weight?
MTM...we all know that you only have experience with Starter jackets.
The fit a little small in the shoulders, I've found. If you're broad get the XL.
How do they fit ?
One arm at a time, you know...
No different to most. Not baggy.
If you want to layer, go big. Wanna be streamlined, go small.
6-0", 210 w/ broad shoulders. I usually wear a big XL, sometimes 2X. My XL Windstopper jacket fits like a glove.
I'm also right between MHW L and XL. My Monkey Man is an XL, and I've borrowed a Windstopper Tech Jacket in a Large. The sleeves were too short. I would err toward XL if you have long arms. Overall, they are slim/athletic in the torso but with short sleeves. Not quite as slim as Arcteryx, but close. FWIW, I'm a large in Arcteryx and most other brands.
they fit great, until they fall apart.
I usually wear a sz L shell in most brands, but I'm on the upper cusp of L. I got the MH something-or-other hoodless softshell in XL, and it fits perfect.
Slimmer than TNF (aka merde), Spyder, and MHW. I can't speak beyond that.
It's one of very few outdoor brands I've tried that have long enough sleeves without a huge-ass torso. I'm 6'2, 185, and my alpha sv is a large. Maybe the beta is just cut differently, I have no idea. Look at my TRs to see how I'm built.
Nah, Alpha and Beta have pretty similar cuts... I'm just jabbing the "people of the FAT":the_finge.
But Eider and especially Mammut seems to have even more slimmer cut...
TNF (and some Marmot's I have) are like, well the sleeves are long enough as is the torso... But somehow there's enough room to fit two of me inside the main body:rolleyes:.
I'm 5'10", 195lbs, and I have a large MTM Pipe Dream shell and large MTM P5 fleece. When I zip the P5 into the shell, it feels a little bulky even when I only wore underarmour under that. The fleece is a snug tech fit, which I like, but the shell is perfect for me as it isn't huge in the torso and has long enough arms. If you plan on using the Trifecta system, I'd go XL, but if not, L will work for layering without constricting. All-in-all, MTM is slowly becoming my fav outfitter.
I'm 5'11", 190 and I'm built like most half-breeds. Long body, long arms, and short legs. TNF, MHW, Arcteryx all fit me like garbage. Either too short in the body and arms or like i'm wearing a barrel. The only brand I can pick up off the rack and wear is Rip Curl. Not the greatest stuff in the word, but their high-end gear is money. IMHO.
