Bent Solly Binding: How to Fix?

Well title might sound more badass then this really is. Anyways the metal piece that the Salomon brakes hook into is bent. I think the damage was from the ski releasing and then my boot slamming down on top of it. They are 914 Labs, so should be same heel construction as the 916s... I think.

Anyways, best way to fix this? I can't reattach brakes to it because the two front tabs on it are bent forward. I know it isn't the brakes I'm trying to attach either. The metal piece that got fucked looks to be independent most of the other binding, anyone have this piece they would be willing to sell/send?

In the pics you can see the front tabs are bent forward and if you can't see it in the pics, the left section forward of the screw is bent up slightly.

Take some large vice grips and bend the tabs back to where they need to be? Tabs should bend up in the same place.

Doesn't look too serious.

if you unscrew those three screws that piece is actually removable, so you can replace it (although finding a replacement part might be a bitch). I doubt that the metal is that strong and it doesnt effect the structural integrity of the binding, so just bend it so it works, doesnt have to be perfect

(oh, and not a dig on you, but WTF is it with simple techtalk questions like this? Do people really need to ask permission before breaking out the pliers? Seriously people, if you have to ask about something like this, especially binding related, you should probably think twice about working on something like your ski bindings.) Rant off.

Holly shit I actually agree with something HighwayStar has posted. wow.

Pliars or a hammer or both should fix it. Get real fancy and pull it off and stick it in the vice.

Well, since I'm at university, just getting access to shop tools is a pain in the ass and I'm busy as fuck since I've procrastinated with schoolwork, so when I get access to what I need, I want to make sure I do it quickly and not fuck anything because then I'm SOL for a while.

What's wrong with a dude asking a question so he can learn things himself and eventually maybe become an expert and pass on his knowledge to others?

Were you born with all the answers? I'm willing to bet that you weren't and that you asked questions to others to learn what's up.

Believe it or not, I actually figured out some stuff myself along the way....suprise, suprise. Even if you're an expert, you still have to figure stuff out for yourself from time to time.....especially if someone has never done something before.

This was not an attack on dirtybryan....I'm just saying that he might have thought for little bit on the problem, and come up with a solution on his own. Such as bending it back. Anything that's soft steel, that bends easily in the first place, can usually be bent back with no damage.

Don't use the internet as a crutch, people. Figuring things out for yourself is good....get into the habit.

Yeah, but some people aren't very mechanically inclined. With people like this, posts like dirtybryan's are what separates the smart from the dumb. The smart ask first and then do. The dumb do first, break shit, scratch their head, break it some more, drink a beer, say fuck it, hit it again with a sledgehammer, and accidentally smash themselves in the process.

Sounds like how I learned to replace the turn signal in my 73 bug. It took three attempts. After that I vowed to never fix an electrical problem again.

No offense taken Damian/Highway/whatever. I thought I might get this response. I pretty much figured it would be off to the vise with it, but sometimes there is a mag who has some brilliant advice or maybe someone might have that piece readily available and would be willing to part with it.
