Somehow I've manged to stumble my way into something that is starting to look pretty nice if I do say so myself. This web monkey shit is hard like math.

1. Please improve the "loading" experience. If you are preloading the content upfront, consider just loading what is needed to get the user interested.
2. Please don't force me to click to enter. Just go there.
3. None of the nav bar links work for me, in either IE or Firefox. I'm assuming they are under construction?
4. You are exposing more of your code than is necessary (View Source).
Just some thoughts.
Pope beat me to it. Is that Dane Cook?
1) How long was the loading time? I've been getting between 5-10 seconds before the words show and the movie plays. The headshot is supposed to play out frame by frame.
2) It's on a loop so click you weenie. ;) I though about having it play through once and then move on but this way you can click through if you want. Flash slpash is a gimmick but for this application it should be a positive. For a web store I'd never do it.
3) The nav bar is not functional and the site is not live.
4) Hmmm...I should really figure a way around that huh? Time to learn another new trick.
YAY!!! LONG LIVE FLASH.
it's one of the reasons the SEO industry exists;)
Pretty, yes, but still not necessary, nor is it a positive. Could have accomplished similar effect as a frame within the page.
All text in graphics, especially the geographic indicators = death for local search.
sorry to rain on the parade, but on the upside, it is nice graphic/identity work.
truth,
The preload took about 5-10 seconds for me the first time through.
My preference would be to see a graphic right away, sans loading, that gives me some idea of what the site is all about. While I'm eyeballing that graphic, you could be preloading the upcoming set of content behind the scenes.
Or, instead of the preloader progress bar, show us a hairdo being built up (as you do, post-preloader).
"Click here to enter" and gratuitous intro animations are something I'd strongly suggest ditching. It's considered gaperific in the web-design world. ;)
I do like the simple, clean design of the site, once it's launched.
As always, take these suggestions with a tub of salt. EVERYONE is a critic when it comes to web design.
And, if you enjoy that type of work, do stick with it! The best way to learn is by doing, of course. And being willing to put your work out there for critique is excellent.
Skiguide, geo indicators will be buried in the site for search engines. Not a worry.
WL, I see your point but 5-10 seconds hardly seems worrying. The site will not really be a beacon for search engines as much as a reference point for customers that are seeking it out. That said, a graphic can easily be placed in the page above the flash movie. The "loading" bar is stock and will be replaced with a custom bit now that I know how to make the flash deal play nice and work. Should be pretty quick to knock out. The flash will only be used on the splash page. Everything else will be pretty much str8 forward with some rollover fun for inter-active amusement.
Thanks for taking the time to look it over. That's why I posted it.
That's got to be the silliest haircut I've seen on a guy in years. I know it's all popular n'shit, and I'm just an old fart, but come on - bedhead is trendy now?
i can't possibly say this big or loud enough
DO NOT PLAY MUSIC ON MY COMPUTER WITHOUT ASKING ME FIRST!!!!
damn i hate that.
and get a fade or some sort of background color behind that image. the black border on white background is too stark.
Tipp...I don't cut em I just shoot em.
when you get through to the home page, there is a black border around the image/page.
if you are going to play music, set a cookie so you can remember i turned it off once. but at least thanks for the off button i guess.
LOL...she does, but she does not set the trends. The trends dictate what she cuts. Fuck if I get high fashion and hair styling. I'm a bald t-shirt vendor.
FYI: This next set of models I have a hand in picking. Should be a much more stimulating crop. The stylist finally agreed that yes, it does matter if the models are hawt, even for hair shots.
Gotcha, it's a chocolate brown but I hear ya. I played with a few backgrounds and it's easy enough to change but the rest of the content will dictate that. The "home" page is really just a mock up right now. Trying to see how to incorporate images what type of text layout etc. The white works best with the images but it might be too much. I'm trying to keep a light feeling to the sight's overall mood. I might move all the images to galleries a few levels in under each stylists page. We'll see.
I wish I knew how to set a cookie to log your musical choice. I'm totally retarded at this and literally learning as I go.
Music == Evil
Into page == Annoying
Dark Border == Weird looking not so much because it's dark, but because it doesn't curve at the corners like the inner color does.
You could make it look better with a text/css layout instead of a glorified image map.
It seems like there's a lot of dead space... not sure what the answer is there.
Yea, everyone's a critic.
Agreed...music at work on a website is not cool. People look over at you like you're slacking off...
Musica sobre su pagina intro....tres ennuyer.
Mazeltov, Bueno Suerte!
Well, a Pat on the back, obviously. Just saying.
You know, like Patrick Fitzmichael and Michael Fitzpatrick...
