Read it. Agreed, great book....couldn't imagine even considering surfing those breaks the biologists discuss surfing on the Farallons...cold, big, perfect, but um, a bit too sharky for me!
That book made me want to go back and do it all again and go into shark biology (which I almost did instead of geology).
To live there and have amazing breaks right off your doorstep that are all but impossible to surf safely... that's some serious torture.

Just watched Planet Earth a little two nights ago.... Seeing the great white come completely out of the water with a 1,000 lb seal had some serious pucker factor....
I read the book. I thought it was ok but there was much more bird talk than shark talk. I got tired of all the bird shit (literally). Just my opinion.
Love the fact that he also has barracuda, manta ray and whale repellent.Quote:

I saw the Great White that was trapped in the creek in the Elizabeths.
The thing that I could never get over was the fact that every time it went by where we were standing (on dry fucking land, not like the idiots in the kayaks) it basically was checking us out. Oh and it was very very pissed off about being stuck where it was. Pacing like a caged lion.
