Okay, so the debate over the topsheet of the latest Nordica Beast got me thinking. What is the ugliest ski? No regard to its skiing merits, just a real munter as far as graphics go. I'll kick off with my nomination but there's quite a few that could be considered...

I guess anything dubbed "carving" followed by a mysterious mix of figures and letters, AND with an Austrian origin could be a contender in this category.
But in this case I'd go for a slightly different kind of ski: the Völkl Snow Ranger. A great off-piste and couloir ski at its time but the graphics was just a sad, sad story. Yikes.

Was also looking for the Original Elan SCX comp, or something, it was their "pro" model, yellow, orange, etc, looked like a giant set of Clown shoes.
The original Head Monster Cross (Black/silver/red, 87mm middle) is pretty ugly. Like straight from the Ruhr industry area...
Ok, the old (yellow) volkl Explosives are maybe even more extremo in that same way, but they're so ugly that it becomes actually cool!...design straight from the CAD/CAM program of an German engineer - how cool is that?:)

All the Snow Rangers were ugly. Mine are even worse than that picture above -- they're brown and light blue. I honestly have to go back to early-mid 90s Elans (the "neon Photoshop barf" look) to find anything worse.

Btw, when you own these skis, they are not so ugly... excepting Lawnchairs... purple skis... yikes!!! But now i already like my MoJo.

01-02 Line Skogens. the orange/blue ones with the train.
I have them and even i cringe when i ride them.
I hafigured the Skogen was a really grotty looking ski, but when I took a look at the green ones I thought they were actually rather fine. The orange, blue and train ones of which you speak must be the hideous carbuncles I had in mind.
the green ones are hot. i dig the bomber girl graphic on them. believe me, i have been trying to somehow ruin mine so i can warrantee them, i think its too late now.
im giving them to hardrider when im done with them. he told me he liked them.
I have those and never thought of them as among the ugliest skis, no pics of them at the moment. I would love to get another pair.Quote:

Fiddler: I had those too...good skis though, and maybe I remember them to be uglier than they actually were...
And well, these are also quite bad...but man when you have skied those, you just love them...:D (Head = underrated
brand IMO, makes great skis nowadays!)

The 1980's K2s are Gay.
But with the pink EssVar bindings, they are Gat.
They ain't gettin' much better next year, either. Prohete's are still white, with an even creepier face on them, and Watea's are now black, with a dual-ski face that looks just like a transformer, and white swirlies all over the tops...Quote:
