Its a bad day for grandmas...

I got a call last night after dinner from my mom informing me that my fathers mother passed away on Sunday. We havent seen or heard from her in 16 years and so it didnt really phase me too much, but my dad is taking it really hard. He is beating himself up for not trying to mend thier relaitionship and it hurts to see him so upset. Today was one of the few times I have ever seen him cry.

Talking to a friend today I learned that around the same time my mother called me last night he recieved word that his grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. So it has been kind of a somber mood around here

This is just a reminder to make sure you spend time every day telling the people you love how you feel. And if you there is someone you have a grudge with, do whatever you can to end it and be on good terms, cause life is short and you never know when you may get a phone call saying someone has died and you will never get the oppurtunity to make things right.

sorry to hear that Pa. I'm sorry for your loss, and for your friend' sad news.

I know I speak for both lph and I when i say that our grandmother is truly an amazing being. My grandmother is 93, and we talk every week. She called me every day when I had my shoulder surgery, and demanded nothing more of me than to hear me say that I was doing ok. Her stories of her youth are amazing to hear.

Your so right - treat people with love as though each day could be yours or their last day.

Thanks for the condolences, but dont feel bad for me, like I said I didnt even know her, so I dont feel any sense of loss. In a way it was acctually a good experience for me because I got to meet a lot of family that I never knew existed. My old man, however, is really taking it hard. He hadnt spoken to her in 16 years and never even recieved a call that she died, he had to hear it from his step mom because none of his half-sisters thought to call him. He was very worried that he wouldnt even be welcome at the viewing today, luckily everyone was very appreciative that he showed up.
Again, thank you for the support but really I was just trying to remind the maggots whats important in life.
