X-Ray Time?
So now that I'm 3 weeks post injury http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75989 I'm starting to worry a bit about my left shin. When I crashed I hit it on a tree pretty hard. I was surprised it wasn't a broken tib/fib when I sat up and shook myself off. I figured it was just severe bruising and didn't get it xrayed. I was more concerned about my knee at the time and was in denial of the fact that I may have f@#$ed up both legs. The first week the shin was pretty painful, mostly because I decided hopping on one leg was better than crutching, so I got around by hopping until the dr gave me permission to weight my bum knee. The impact was on the upper medial shin. There isn't any pain upon palpation of the tibia from knee to ankle, but the area where the tree hit is still REALLY sensitive and numb. I'm starting to wonder if I should go back to the dr and get it xrayed. Weight bearing isn't painful, but I'm sure if I were able to do anything high impact (like running) it wouldn't feel good. Any direct contact to the area hurts a lot, like those damn labs and there exuberant tails...
Should I make an appt or just ride it out and wait for it to heal?

hmm... if you are able to bear weight, to me that says no fracture and more of a very bad contusion. You might not need an x-ray but maybe just have them check things out again. If the contusion is still this painful 3 wks out, maybe ask to go for some therapy, estim, ultarsound and such.....

thanks Vin! That's what I was hoping you'd say. I'll probably just let it ride for now. It's not like I need it to heal any time soon. I'm still 5 weeks from sitting on a stationary bike... and I have 9 weeks to find a new road bike.
