Where would you go for a post graduation trip?

Ok so I'm trying to think up some ideas for something different or adventurous to do post graduation, besides the standard europass thing. So, for 2-3 grand and three to four weeks, any recommendations? I was thinking maybe skiing New Zealand but it'd be mid-June to mid-July which seems a little early season there so it could be iffy. Maybe camping on the beach somewhere like Fiji, Costa Rica, or Australia and getting good at surfing, or a roadtrip up the coast to Alaska. Any cool experiences to recommend in Europe (besides the typical)? Pretty much open to anything at this point. Also, anybody know of any sites where you can find people to travel with (besides this one of course)? Any good ideas or personal experiences would be awesome to hear.

Vegas. Spend the money you would have spent on plane tickets here on hookers and blow. Be sure to pack some masking tape, a skein of yarn, some needlenose pliers, and a funnel. And never look back.

2-3 grand buys some good skiing. Take a helicopter trip over spring break. Or get some serious climbing gear and hit the uber-gnar in May or June. By then the snowpack will have chilled out and it won't be -40. What uber-gnar, you ask? I don't know because I don't have that sort of scratch to blow on a ski/climbing trip right now. Some guesses: crazy places in AK/BC, crazy places in Asia, crazy places in Europe. If that sounds too aggressive or vague, then try to ski the Grand Teton, Granite Peak, and Mount Rainier over the course of a few weeks. If that sounds too aggressive or you have trouble finding someone to go with you, you need to get cooler friends and you should go solo hike a chunk of the AT/CDT/PCT for a month or two.

Tibet. Pakistan. Peru. Bolivia. Indonesia. With care you could stretch your budget to 2 months, including airfare.

Fiji = not a really good place to go to get good at surfing.

hiking long trails in the US is for when you retire from interesting activities.

Travel by yourself - you'll meet plenty of people along the way.

I'd suggest India; safe, as interesting, mind blowing, beautiful and diverse a country you could ever hope to visit, and so cheap as to be practically free. However, going in the summer could be hellishly hot and, depending on where you want to travel, intolerably wet.

For all of these you have to be into climbing though ...

pick 4 national parks and spend a week camping and hiking at each one. make it a road trip type thing. I did that when I graduated, except that we saw a lot mroe than 4 parks.

Start from the south and swing your way north so you dont get caught in horrible heat anywhere. This trip is probably lower budget than you have to spend, but itll be fun for sure.

Toledo, OH. You won't believe the amount of hookers and blow the economy there will provide for that kind of $.

Take your ass to South America and party down with some horny drunk Brazilian bitches. You'll never be the same person again. If you can find the discpline to peel yourself away from the indulgence, do some diving in Belize and raft a chunk of the Amazon.

The snow will be here when you get back.

bolivia. lost of ppl dont travel here cuz they really dont know what the country offers, but there is a ton to do. camping, skiing, fishing and lots of good downhill bikig. plus its really cheap

I graduate in 2009, i then hop a plane for jackson, be a ski bum through may 2010, hop a plane to South Africa, Go to the world cup through late june/early july, go backpacking through tibet/china/burma......, then hop a plane for Las Lenas, head back to another ski area for one more season of bumming before I start the real world, mabye jackson, tahoe, slc, india, japan, europe, i don't know. Thats my current plan, I figure I'll be like 10-20 grand in debt after that, so then it will be time to start grad school.
