I am looking at getting a new pair of ski gloves. My old gloves have removable liners and I like the idea of removing the top 'layer' for snow climbing in the spring etc. But, I also think that these type of gloves do not offer the level of dexterity that a normal glove would offer.
What is everyone using out there for the BackCountry?
Thoughts?
I would go with the removable liners. The added versatility is convenient. If you carry a backup pair, possibly have a pair with and without. Just a thought.
For multiday BC, modular + couple of liners is the way to go.

For really warm gloves, yes, get removable liners. They dry much faster when you can pull the liners out and dry them separately from the shells.
I carry a few different "weight" liners to addjust with conditions. Helps dry them out too.
i really like the BD System glove
the liner is actually really functional and what I wear anyday its 20 or higher.
The shell doesnt add too much warmth though, so keep that in mind. Anything lower than 0 and now being active will make my hands get fairly cold.

I rotate among my BD Systems, an old pair of Rausches, and the Costco special Heads -- $13.
I started using these for liners and am really diggin' em. The "deerskin" plam is grippy and there are little holes along the fingers so they don't get too hot. They also seem to stay "dexterous as fuck":D even inside another pair of shells. For 15 bucks they are hard to beat.

no question liners are winners "hands down".
Additionally, liners can be de-funkified by washing.
I prefer the kind that velcro to the shell, so you don't have to hold them in place while inserting your hand.
If you have cold hands, rbhdesigns.com is your friend. They're actually too warm for me on a lot of Sierra days.
Layering works well everywhere else; do it for your hands as well. Would you ski with just a down parka?
