I'm thinking that they withheld 49%, and that it isn't necessarily going to the man, you just won't see it until you do your taxes.
Also, keep in mind that your hard-earned dollars are being used to, among other things: (1) spread democracy throughout the world, (2) leave no children behind, and (3) prevent nubile young babes from putting out.
Exactly. When I get the big check once a year, it allows me to see how the upper crust lives. I'm just pissed that they didn't shoot a warning email out prior to depositing so I could dump a chunk of it into the 401k (edit: thus dropping out of the superelite tax withholding bracket). Sigh, it seems everyone is missing my point. I'm not dickwaving about getting a bonus. Getting a bonus is awesome and I'm thankful for it. However, suddenly jumping up to the topmost tax bracket (really easy to do when you are paid weekly) and having the government take 49% of your paycheck until March at the earlyest, sucks.

You wanna know about how much I hate the government right now, state not federal. Fuckers at the Department of Social services are sitting on $9,000 worth of reimbursement check that goes to pay for disadvantaged kids to attend my daycare program. Basicly if you quailify your kid comes for a reduced rate and at the end of the month NY State picks up the difference. Only they haven't gotten the check out for October OR November yet, we haven't gotten paid in 4 weeks which means Christmas for my 2 year old is pretty much going to suck. I guess in the long run he's only two, we bought a couple of things that he's gonna like so he's got somethings to open under the tree, and if he's got to wait a week for our paychecks to clear so we can buy him more stuff he'll live but the whole thought sucks.:cussing:
Fingers crossed that the big check is in the mail this afternoon so my wife and I can go out on a last minute shopping bender.

Every year I pay about 49% of my bonus in taxes. I get some of it back when I do my taxes but it still sucks for them to take it. Especially at Christmas time.
