Anyone catch the Pipe Masters?

Right away they were calling it the sickest finals in WCT history. Shall I spoil it? Sure. Andy Irons was comboed by Kelly Slater, needing two scores in the last 6 minutes to pull out a victory. He came through, capping it off with a perfect 10 on his final wave. Pretty sick.

Oldtimer was down there catching the action with our parents (he's raked in so much money with Squallywood 2, he figured he'd get in a couple months of beach time...Kidding, but they were there, just not at the finals).

yes it was an epic final. just me or did you think machado was getting underscored? i mean he still wouldn't have down too well but a 1.7 for a half decent barrel is a bit rich.

Caught 1st round of the masters in person last Sunday, plus U2 and Pearl Jam the night before - not a bad weekend. Photo from heat #8 - Slater in Red and O'Brien in Blue splitting a peak.

There were a few interesting uses of priority, split peaks and near-outright dropping in. Solid 10 though, and lots of great waves.

Kelly was not too pleased with losing- but he never is, especially when Andy wins.

I thought AI's 9.87 was severely underscored- he rode that wave the best that anyone could have, including the fucking ridiculuous floater over the sandbar.

Best Fucking Pipe Masters final since the '91 Tommy Carroll / Derek Ho showdown.

Carroll also pulled a 10 with a refuckingtarded snap under the lip, a move that hasn't been repeated at Pipe to this day.
