I have a pair of cork cust. beds that are old and in need of replacement. I am buying new boots soon and am considering new footbeds. Just curious what everyone is using or may recommend. A guy in my town does total cust. mold beds for 130. I am also looking at superfeet molds for 90 or just superfeet non-molds for 45. Comfort and performance are priority so not sure what to do yet. Of course a search should get you lots of material on this, not sure if you tried. Bottom line is it all depends on your feet and who is making the footbed. Lots of good systems and lots of good fitters. Lots of people will have better luck with theirs or problems largely due to their particular feet and the guy making them not recognizing issues. Asking people's preferences doesn't get you much expect what does or doesn't work for their feet.
How much do you pronate? Does it occur in the mid foot or heel or both? Is your mid foot rigid? Any other foot issues? How about alignment issues? For an over the counter unit I like the sole footbeds myself but I pronate badly and need all the support I can get, stock superfeet don't give me enough support.
Your real quest here is for a good bootfitter in your area or somewhere you're going that can assess your foot and guide you or build for you from there.
try the off the rack ones and see what they do or dont do for you. If they dont fit or correct your foot shape the way you want then odds are you need a full custom.
