this has been going on for several years now. I buy new gloves at the end of the season for next season and by the end of that season my gloves are done for. I've tried all different brands and they all end up the same at the end of the year, useless. i need some gloves that will take some serious abuse.
Go to your local lumber yard and throw down twelve bucks for a pair of leather Kincos. They are cheap and warm. Heat 'em up by the fire or on the heat vent and nikwax/snoseal them. I am a mitten gal b/c my fingers get super cold, but these are cheap and warm. Then you won't feel bad when you need a new pair.Quote:

Buy those five dollar grey glove protectors they sell at evey ski shop I've ever been in. Work like a charm and are cheap.

This is all good advice. The $12 leather gloves from the hardwear store are the best. I get a pair every year then use the old ones for camping. Beeswax and an oven will also help. I still have a nice expensive pair for really cold days but use the cheapos most of the time. This keeps the nice ones in good condition for when I really need them.
I just wish the cuff on the leathers was a little bit longer and fit under the sleeve a little better. If they marketed them to skiers they could even up the price to $15 and I'd still buy em.
Stop using the rope tow and get on the chair lift.
I find the more leather in the glove, the longer they last. I like the Cloudviel, 1 1/2 seasons so far, and holding up well. All the nylon gloves I have used fray at the seams.
I am a big fan of the Cloudveil troller glove. I am on my third season with mine and though they are starting to show signs of wear, I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon.
I also like using snowboarding gloves. They tend to be stronger in the places that usually rip easily. I get 3-4 years out of a pair of Dakines.
Ptavv has some cloudveil trollers with less than 100 days and they are already all packed out and not that warm. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I don't get enough days a year to wear out gloves.
The kinco glove is the main work horse in my glove fleet. I have a pair of marmot ultimates and work gloves, and the kinco's are the warmest of the three pairs that I own. Plus if you lose a pair your only out a couple of buck, and you can buy multiple pairs and not break the bank.

my hands in the past have usually gotten cold, but so far this season ive been really happy with the bdel system glove.
Its nice to actually have a removable liner thats functional and you can wear by itself and keep you warm for days 30deg and higher. The over glove is nice as well and pretty dexterous. Not sure if they have more, but I picked it up from STP for 25-30$.

The best, most durable gloves I've ever owned have come from Cabela's... Made for sitting in trees, so you know they're good.
Cheaper than the Ultimate Ski Glove or if you want a nice spring glove or if you want an insulated work style glove
Too bad there's no winter camo. Plus, they're not hip and trendy, so that turns some people off as well.
From the toughness perspective, the Trollers are great gloves. However, they will wet out on you irregardless of what you do to them (i've found). But seriously bomb proof otherwise.Quote:

go and get a pair of liners that fit tight to your hand. i have some and alot of the times i have to take them out because my hands start sweating. another litte trick is a latex glove. wear a pair of those under your gloves and your hands will never be cold. only bad thing is that the sweat has no where to go. lol
nobody has mentioned the pm gear gloves? they're super-durable and are usually TOO warm. kind of weird how the fingers stick together, but that coating has proven to be pretty damn durable over the past few seasons. (fwiw, i only get out maybe 25-35 days/year)
oh - seems that they're sold out at the website. hmm. i still think rank towards the top of the gloves durability scale.
The PMGear KevGloves totally rock. I've had mine for two seasons and not a sign of disintegration.
