my roommates are slobs! Bubba-k can vouch. everything from dishes to garbage to moldy pizza boxes lined up in our garage. what can i do besides the obvious nagging because i have already tried that. does anyone know of an electronic shocker for when they dont pick up their shit? something...anything.
Put it in their room.

How much longer on your lease? If it isn't long, wait it out and find new roommates. If it's gonna be a while, try talking it out sensibly... incentives maybe?
don't waste your time trying to change people. find a new living situation if it bothers you that much and it's feasible to do so.
I have been in the same situation. I basically took it upon myself and found someone to take over my room and moved out. If its really bad I suggest the same. If it sucks but you still want/have to live there all I can say is suck it up and dont focus on the negatives.
welcome to my college experience.... i just kept my room clean and spent most of my time in there while i was at home... as for the rest of the apt i made sure i was a big scumbag and would dirty the roomates dishes/pans and leave it unwashed throw shit crumbs on the floor and they eventually started cleaning up the place cuz it was a sty....lol

you just gotta deal.....I live with 8 other dudes....has its pros and cons.....save mad loot on food (a house like ours has an actual use for costco)......but mostly cons...never ever again
Move. I was that sitiuation in college and it does not get any better. I went away for a week once and came home and every dish we had was dirty, there was a concotion on the stove that consisted of greenbeans and cheese that had mold or some shit growing in it. Their damn clothes would pile up at the washer (which was by the kitchen). They finally quit school and moved out. I stayed by myself from then on. I have not had a roommate since. Except the wife.
I've had real bad luck with roommates in bozeman.
Last year, one of my roommates would pretty much live entirely off my, and my other roommate's food. At the begining of the semester he asked "hey you mind if I borrow a couple things, I'm gunna make some food?" He claimed he was broke then, but would be getting a job within the next week. I said sure. Well he never got a job, and just kept eating my food. I talked with him about it multiple times, at first nicely, then more along the lines of "What the fuck are you donig? Isn't that my chicken, asshole?" What pissed me off the most, was that when he did buy his own food, it was always some super expensive clever ass organic shit. For the price of that shit, he could have bought enough ramen and hormel chili to live off of.
So when I left, I took his down jacket with me. I think we're square now.
My last roommates were complete slobs, and surly rednecks to boot. They'd do dishes about twice a month, everything had a layer of filth on it. They hadn't washed thier dog in its entire life I would bet, not to mention that they wouldn't buy it a water bowl, it just drink out of the tiolet. Someone broke some of the windows just outside my room one night, and three months later they still hadn't fixed them. I could go on, but you get the idea.
What really pissed me off was when they started blaming me for all thier messes. Riiiiight.
I didn't pay them the last three weeks rent before I left, and told them in a letter that because of everything I'd had to deal with, the room didn't have the same value as when I had moved in. I left my number, if they wanted to call and bitch at me, which they never did.
It sounds like your situation is a bit different, I wouldn't advocate stealing from them, maybe you just have to get out of there. Are you on the lease? End of semester is a great time to find a new place.
Get all religious on their asses. Remind them that Jesus said, "inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." In your house, inasmuch as they have done it unto your home, they have done it unto you. Seek vengeance accordingly.
Put their dirty dishes in their bed. If they spit on the floor, spit on them. If they ash on the chair, ash on them. Be prepared to defend against retaliation.

move out. you will never make someone be clean or pick up their shit. bail on that shit. if you have a long lease left, find someone to sublet and bounce.

In Whistler I have had icky roomates, when I was at school it wasn't so bad. The best situation I've had so far is right now, because I live on my own in Whistler. If I want people sleeping on my couch I don't have to okay it with the roomates, and any mess I have to blame on myself. It's awesome.
I once put my roommates dirty dishes in his bed. He was super pissed, but it got the point across.
If the lease is in your name, kick them out. It shouldn't be hard to find new ones this time of year.
yup, just bail out. deal with it till then, leave as little food out as possible, put a lock on the door, hell hide some clean dishes somewhere too.

That's what one of my roommates did in the apartment - took away the dishes so everyone got 1 plate, 1 bowl, 1 fork etc. If you dirtied it, you had to clean it before you made another meal.
