Im looking to buy a new pair of skis within the next 2-3 weeks.....
I already own a pair of public enemies which r great on the whole mountain, but what im lookin for are powder/crud/Backcountry oriented skis that can handle well in the steeps but are still tolerable on the groomed...
I ski mostly at mammoth and june but also in utah and whistler...
which ski would u guys recommend??

what lengths are you considering in those two skis? The Seth is pretty solid in the 189 but the 179 doesn't compare to the 183 Gotama. If you're looking at the 183ish length ski I have some skis I might need to sell pretty soon because of overlap in my quiver and a credit card bill that is killing me. They are Kingswood Midfats in the Extra flex that are about 183cm and have been skied just once. They are sweet skis but they just overlap more with my KW Fats than I was hoping they would and I cannot afford to have both plus I want to buy some XXLs by Christmas time if I can get away with it with the missus. Do the volkl thing man. I don't know how this year's Gots ski but they were a well-liked ski last season. BTW, does anyone know if this season's ski skis a bit short like last seasons? I know they did away with the squared off tail, but I didn't know if the twin was as turned up as last year.
well my public enemies are 174's and thats pretty good i could prob go a bit longer....so yeah i would think i should go with the 176 gotama unless u guys would recommend me goin up to 183...
and i would most likely buy last years seth's in 179.....
whats gonna be the biggest difference between these two skis.....what am i gonna feel on the mountain?

You need to give us some more info man, height/weight/ability.....and keep in mind that the gotamas have a really kicked up tail which takes away from the overall length - i have Gotamas in a 176 but want to trade em for 183s.......i'm 5'8" 155.......

i ski everything and lately having been gearing a lot of my skiing towards backcountry/cliffs.....
what will the gotama feel like when skiing down a steep slope requiring quick short turns.....

I've skied the 189 Pistol and the 183 Gotama for one season plus each with 130+ days each. I like the Gotama more.
If you go Goat's, get a 183.

I picked up a pair of last year's Gots in the 183 length. I'm 5'8", 165 lbs. Skied them all over the place at Crystal last weekend. Everything from icy, scoured ridge traverses to big soft bumps to crusty crud to heavy sun-baked pow to consolidated boot-deep pow to groomers. They do it all. Lets break this tradition with a hypothetical situation. Say Goats with bindings run about 900 bucks, which is all you have. 900 dollars will also pay for a limo ride to whistler from van and a night in a hotel.
