Ski conditions in Eastern BC / Canadian Rockies

Hi,

I have been moving North at a rather steady pace (See TR post!) over the last week and the conditions have been deteriorating rather quickly as I have moved North.

Is this a sign of things to come? How bad (or good :D) are things at Red Mountain, Fernie, Kicking Horse and in the Canadian Rockies? Is Delirium Dive open at Sunshine?

My dilemma is this: The mrs is coming in for a week on Feb 20th. I can book her into Denver or Calgary on airmiles. Calgary would be my first choice, but if things are as bad as they seem, I don't mind driving an extra 1000 miles for better snow.

Way to keep at it, Scul ! ! !

There's awesome skiing right now but it's a little warm and hasn't snowed in almost 2 weeks. Delirium is open but looks bony at the top. Mid section looks like it starts to get good. At the Lake all of the Whitehorn 2 gullies are now open including H and I. Rippin skiing on flat smooth firm steeps with minimal rock hazard. Need snow for that to last especially since this will be one of the busiest weekends of the year. This post is 9 days ago, Whitehorn 2 gullies
Flurries tonight as a couple of Pacific systems are supposed to come through, means some warm temps but not much of a problem here maybe more so for kootenays and fernie. Really need another system for the pacific flows to bang into and dump on us again.

Its is snowing right now in Fernie at a decent pace. High alpine is reported to still have stashes from the system two weeks ago and touring is easy.

I can't offer on hill assistance but I'll meet you in the bar for sure. Drop a line when you get close. I'll be here for the next three weeks for sure.

There's been a lack of snow after the 140cm or so dump about 2 weeks ago. Buts its been warm so the snow has been settling down and stabalizing. Unf. its been so warm lately that south facing slopes have been pretty sketch. Nontheless, got some 35 degree tracks in up at the wapta icefields last week, and had great skiing after that dump in rogers pass. a couple of shots:

yup it is coming down at a fairly decent rate. The first snow in about 2 weeks. If this keeps up I might have to brave the Alberta crowds and go up tomorrow....or maybe go for a little tour if I can find someone who's into it.
