Result: Flexon tongue for Denali

Well, I wanted to add some more beef to my Denali boots as they were a little lacking out of the box, especially after I'd added some thermo liners.

I saw Lou Dawson's FAQ here:

I sourced the tongues via Swiss Sports Haus in Vancouver (cost = $19 CAN). The tongues are out of a Flexon Comp.

Anyway, I followed Lou's excellent guide and voila!

i did the same to some Garmont GSM's. Got the tongue from Browse & Buy for $5. I also (recommeded by someone on here) shipped my boots off to Race Stock Sports in VT, where the riveted some plastic into the upper cuff. The boot is SOLID. The best part of the riveted plastic is that it forces a more forward stance which helps me out of the backseat.
No pics sorry.

Looks nice, I'll have to consider that when I pick up my pair this spring(hopefully). And yours dont look like Lou's frankenboots

Pretty much ....

My original Scarpa tongue said 8/9DX, and the boot is a UK 7.5. The shell size is marked 7.5-8 (sole length ~305mm)

The tongue I got is 7-8.5 size, it is virtually a perfect match in terms of bend and height to the original tongue, and is a little wider.

My bootsize is 26.5 and raichle liner is 27.
Erm, just dont know if the real bootsize is 26 or 27..
Is it usually rounded up or down (in rossis?).

Well I just got to try them out. Skied yesterday at Perisher Valley in Australia in 5 cm of fresh snow. Beggars can't be choosers!!

I'm most impressed with the modification. I was riding a pair of Kneissl Tankers with Freerides and the extra beef in the tongue really helped in the control of a stiff board like the Tanker. The boot is no heavier, still just as comfortable and now can crank! In BC in January any sort of harder snow made the boot feel very unpowered on my setup, so I'm most happy with the $20 mod.
