MT Mags: Beehive Beta?
I was just wondering if anyone got up to Beehive Basin this weekend and what kind of snow conditions can be expected. I might try and get some turns in Wednesday morning before my flight leaves and the Thanksgiving festivities begin.
I was at Bridger today despite the rumor that it was all mud, and actually found the apron to be quite skiable. Of course I ended up boot packing half the way out, but the turns were worth it. There appeared to be some old slide debris/death cookies coming out of the chute from above, and my snow pit indicated a hoar layer beneath a solid crust layer about 8 inches down, so I stuck to the trees lining the south side.
I'm curious as to what's going on further south, so if anyone has skied the Beehive area recently I would appreciate any beta on the conditions.
Thanks

We did a dog patrol yesterday. In sheltered aspects on the ridge down to bear/middle it was soft. In more open aspects it was cooked up somewhat. Saw some people making turns at the head of bear basin, looked good. Getting back down from the ridge to beehive involved a certain amount of rock hopping, then just cruise out. Basically its fine :)

Thanks for the info/TR. Looks like some good turns on the east side of the ridge, I might have to give that a try. Now its just deciding whether to bring rock gear with no AT or risk a few scratches for the efficiency of skinning ;)
