Rain Pants
I'm looking for some pants for winter bike commutes. I have some old 1st gen gore-tex, but they need replacing.
I was looking at Marmot's PreCip, but search reveals that breathability is comparable or worse to old goretex, which is a downer.
Any other suggestions for fully waterproof yet surprisingly breathable pants?
If Precip is the stuff to get, I figure I can get away with cracking a small vent in the top. Do the full-zip precips have a zipper flap/cover?

i've got precip pants. they breath pretty good if you wear something breathable underneath..... ie. not jeans. not xcr but still good.

I've got the precips also. They tend to get steamed up when the temp is over 55 degrees but less than that, they aren't a problem. I tend to wear them w/gym shorts, for fall or spring hikes when its wet. Imagine they would be good with a lightweight polypro long john.

Thanks-- I'll be wearing them over work pants while I ride to work in cold, sloppy sleet and rain and snow and need the work pants to stay like work pants under those conditions. BUT, they also need to pack up nice and small to fit in my bag the rest of the time.

Are you looking to get some on the cheap?
If you go to Walmart in the outdoor/fishing section, they sell some made by Stearns that are actually really good. I bought the jacket shell for under $50. Waterproof/breathable. I wear it fishing and around town. They sell the jacket and the pants.

I'll pay if it's worth it, you know?
