I just got my Giro fuse in the mail, I'm not sure how impressed i am, the ear pieces come out really really easily and the goggle strap in the back has already broke. Has anybody else had these problems? or warn me of others that might occur? or just any info whatsoever?
My goggle strap thingy came off also, but my goggles still stay on fine without it. I don't think the ear pieces are supposed to come out since they are glued in.
I have a Giro Nine from this year so I don't know how helpful this will be.
The ear pieces are supposed to clip in and out. Mine take a bit of effort to get out so if your's are just falling out that might be a problem. The strap on the back to hold in the goggles really isn't that neccessary as they have a groove along the side of the helmet that holds the goggles well. I have a Nine.9 MX and I absolutely love the friggin thing. Stylish, fits well, and most importantly, keeps my brains from meshing with the snow/trees.
There should be three prongs on the ear piece that snap in to the helmet, check to see if their missing. I'd try to return it with the broken strap and up grade to the fuse tune ups.

i think thats the problem i yanked mine out real hard and everything came out. But it says that they should be able to pull out, so i'm really not sure what they're doin with the glue. Oh well they stay in pretty well, i just kinda wish I hadn't done it in the first place.
Well the first time I recieved my fuse it had glue dripping from the earpiece (not supposed to be there) So I sent it back and they sent me a new one. That is why I was assuming the ear piece was glued in.Quote:

ear pieces are made to come out. I had to rig mine a bit to make it stay in but it is fine. Goggle starp you can get replaced at the shop you bought it at probably for free.
how'd you rig it up, it seems like it would be really annoying on the slopes
I just put a piece of adhesive flet on the edge of the plastic to make it tighter in the slot.Quote:

There shoud not have been any glue on the ear pieces. On mine they just snap into place.
Funny to hear that others had the same experience as I did with glue dripping all over their earpieces. I don't think the earpieces are originally glued in; I think it's just excess glop that runeth over during manufacturing. I had to yard on the earpieces to get them out the first time, but now they stay in fairly well.
Regarding the goggle strap, mine broke after two days. Sent an e-mail to Giro and they sent out a replacement strap, which has so far been going strong. One hint to get the strap on: GENTLY heat the strap (I used a gas stovetop) and the thing will slide on like butter.
Both truth and Ripzalot were sporting Giros at La Grave and both had busted goggle retainers.
I busted mine too, shop gave me a new one free.
Mine broke after 5 days. I E mailed them and quickly received a new one in the mail within 4 days for free. Second one seems to be doing ok.

My strap has been just fine for three seasons, going on a fourth and I unsnap/resnap it at least twice a week for goggle swaps.

both truth and i had the same prob with the goggle strap retainer. seems on the fuse (a supposedly more advanced model) they put on a cheaper retainer than the nine. i think what broke mine is simply my pack catching on it when i throw my pack over my shoulders. it's not flush with the helmet and tends to grab loose straps and whatnot on my pack. if mine hadn't broke i might still have that pair of oakley goggles instead of donating them to the la grave traverse user community. :mad:
