Freeride brake width identification

How do you identify what width Freeride Plus brake you have without mounting it? Is there identification stamped on it somewhere, or can you measure the crossbar? I haven't mounted them yet, but they fit around a 98mm waist when deployed, but seem to get hung up when I try to go from closed to deployed (of course this is inexact as the bindings aren't mounted yet and I am just holding the bindings against the ski.) Does anyone know what size brakes come the Freeride Pluses you get from BD? I am getting conflicting info from different sources and want to confirm.

Since it sounds like you've purchased the pair already, the best answer is to bend out the brake legs enough to clear the sidewalls. I don't know what brake sizes equal in width, but all pairs of my freeride brakes have fit just fine after a little bit of bending. It's actually preferable to have them on the small side cause it means the brakes don't stick out too far when your skiing.

I'm assuming that Freeride+ brakes are the same as reg. Freeride brakes...

Normal brakes just clear the edges of my Explouders deployed, slightly bent and snag when retracting. The wide ones didn't snag at all.

Also, since I'm a really nice guy... I digged the brakes from my closet and measure the wideness of the top-part of the brake-arms (ie. before they make the ~90 degree turn downwards)... result from outside to outside is 83mm. As I don't have the wide brakes anymore, can't measure 'em but from what my memory serves me... They were around 110mm at the same spot.

The brakes on my Freeride (regular's) fit the 90mm PR with a few mm's to spare on either side. I think the literature says you would need the wide brakes for the 98mm, but if you just tweak what you've got a bit, you'll be home free. A few click-in's should automatically shave off the plastic where it catches the edges anyway. I vote you save yourself the $$$ of buying the wide brakes.

edit: I made the mistake of buying the wides that I don't need, I would be happy to send them to you if you end up needing them, but it sounds like you'll be ok with what you've got.
