When specialized was originally playing around with suspension on stumpjumpers, they called the first suspension fork the future shock. When one of the engineers got out the welder and put a future shock suspension fork on the rear end of the bike, along with a swingarm mechanism, they called it future shock rear. The acronym still holds today, for some reason. Reading the catalogs, you would think FSR Technology is something more impressive than that.
