A followup to the carfax post. My new car is in MO and I am flying there to drive it home. It was cheaper to fly and drive than have it trucked out plus this way I get it Thursday vs waiting 3 weeks. Mapquest is saying through NE, WY, and the top of UT. KS, CO, and UT looks like a cooler drive. Thoughts?
I'm guessing I-70 to Denver then north to Laramie or I-80 straight to Laramie will be equally flat and boring, unless you want to spend a night in Denver, then go I-70.
Laramie to Boise on I-80/I-84 is pretty boring as well (and I-80 in SW Wyoming is crawling with speed traps). On the other hand, it looks like I-70 all the way to I-15 will add a significant amount of distance and probably has more likelihood of adverse weather driving.
If you want an enjoyable drive, head all the way up to I-90 and cruise through Badlands/Rushmore/Devil's Tower, then over to Yellowstone, down through Jackson, over Teton pass, through Craters of the Moon, catch 84 in Mountain Home. That's a fun drive -- but incredibly out of your way.

I've done the MO to Denver route a number of times. Dull as all heck. The only excitement was watching tumbleweeds (seriously!).
I've also done MO to Jackson Hole through NE and WY. First part is boring, but once you get up in Wyoming the long views are actually worth something. The terrain gets more "rolly" and there are actually some cool things to see (though it's still desolate people wise). The WY roams are quite nice to drive/drive fast on.
I haven't done the denver through UT and farther north leg, which is probably comparable to the nice part of the drive I did. MO to Denver flat out sucks.
