...I was thinking of getting the Treo 700w(verizon wireless)..anyone have any experience with this??...I know a few people that have the 650 and they are happy....currenly, I am using 2 seperate devices to deal with appointments and phone.....was thinking one device might be a good move

Sorry, no personal experience but go visit phonescoop.com. The have a ton of reviews of darn near every phone. I'm planning to get a vx6700 in the near future.
Personally, I've liked Treo Palm technology so much that although I've used several other windows devices, including the 700w, I keep going back to the palm os. I'm obviously not alone, as they've produced the 700p.
However, I reeeaally like having wifi, bluetooth, 4G SD-IO, and a high-res screen in one device (like my Dopod 818Pro) which Treo cannot as yet deliver. When the new WX version comes out it might be useful enough that I'd be willing to finally give up the palm os and switch to the mobile os. Unless, of course, they also come out with a 700PX. I'd get that in a heartbeat.
Bottom line is...if you will kick yourself later for not having WiFi and Bluetooth in the same device, the 700W is not for you.
How Palm and Gates made the decision to leave WiFi off the 700W is completely beyond my comprehension. The market that buys that kind of phone has too many other options out there with everything in one device.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a 700p, mainly because I hate Microsoft. Palm sync is well supported by Linux.
my friend has already broken two treos in like 8 months. They are so heavy and big that they crack like shit if you drop them once. but i guess if you need the thing, just dont drop it, but then again, who doesnt drop theyre cell phone now and again
If you compare the Treo 700w vs the 700p the 700p has a lot more going for it, unless you really really want a Windows OS. THe 700p has a better screen (comparable in resolution to the 650 which is a Palm OS too) but I think even a little brighter from the reviews. What features are important for you, mail sync, opening Word and Excel etc. office type files, camera or what?
The 700w has a lower res screen and some other things I would chack out and compare if you are going for it because someone likes their 650 Palm version.
There are some other Windows PDA out there including the Motorola Q and it may be worth comparing them to the Treo 700w.
How about something that does IE /w java, excel, telnet, and has some way to dispay WiFi signal strength in dB?

The WinMobile OS does not support a higher res screen, so that will be stuck in the slow lane for a few. Having wi-fi and bluetooth in the same device is tricky because they both operate in the same frequency spectrum (from my understanding) and tend to trip each other up. Also, they both eat battery like crazy. Wi-fi will also cut into the service provider's ability to sell you their mobile data service, so they de-prioritize that from the manufacturer's action item list. There is a "wi-fi sled" that wraps cradle like around Treo's and plugs into thhe bottom, but it is bulky. There are rumors thhat the new GSM Treo 750 will jive (driver wise) with those wi-fi cards that insert into SD Card slots, but that ain't out, ain't proven, and if you're alrready dropping big coin on the "smart" phone then kicking in another hundo for wi-fi sucks.
700w vs. 700p: the P is more stable but less simple to integrate into everything else in your office, unless your office is filled with Mac's and then the opposite is true. The W will be more familiar to windows users, and carry the same frustrations that windows users live with and work around. W is better for folks who will be supported by a corporate IT department, both for problem solving and leveraging all the tools in the device.
I used to sell all this crap direct to businesses for a service provider.

I really like my 700w, I use the heck out of it. The only downside is that it locks up every few days and you have to pull the battery to reboot, but that's about it.
I use Verizon's EV-DO unlimited data plan (about four times the speed of dial-up), so WiFi isn't an issue for me here in Los Angeles. Also, I bought the $35 PdaNet software and can use the phone as a modem for my laptop, via the sync cord or Bluetooth. Pretty slick.
