im103 vs. new Team Mojo 103

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the new team Mojo 103's and the old im103's from '04 '05? See, when I bought my im103's, one of the skis had a small cosmetic chip in the top of them. The Head rep told me he would replace the skis for free with a new pair of the '07 Team 103's. I was just wondering if the new skis still had liquimetal in them and if there are any differences in stiffness/sidecut/construction between the older and newer models.

Also, has anyone skiied the new Team Mojos from this season?

It's my understanding they are exactly the same as the Supermojo, which-to my understanding-was exactly the same as the 103. Who cares if they have liquidmetal. They'll kill it either way.

I think the "Liquid Metal" is there as much as the "Pietzo Chip" was on the older im.103s..

the head rep & ski w/ tells me it is just a repaint

i'm pretty sure that the m103 was the stiffest, the supermojo was a little softer, but still burly, and i have no info on the new team 103

Spot on Soul Skier. Had a pair of 103's (which delammed) and they were replaced by the Supermojo's. The 103's were a bit stiffer and slight less forgiving of pilot error. The only other difference I could see was the absolute bomber topskin on the Supermojo's...sh** was indestructible...

My 103s also delammed along with most pairs I've seen. Just curious, any sign of delam on your super mojos? I've been wondering if they would hold up better than the 103 since it seems the constr. is the same sans top sheet. Besides the delam the skis have been solid, but boy do they delam...

So all this talk on delaming 103's has me wondering what their warranty process is on these skis.

I bought a pair of monsters at the end of last season from that Action Sports Outlet deal and they have held up pretty well so far. All this talk of delaming has me wondering if they are going to just fall apart after another season (only skied them probably 15 times). So is Head usually pretty good about their warranty? Are these skis still even under warranty, they are a couple generations old right?

I wouldn't mind getting the new generation ski if mine do end up delaming, but I was just wondering what is the process one would have to go through to get these skis warrantied?

dont bother. just treat them as disposable. they will break and there isnt anything head will do about it.

What are those of you doing with the delaminating m103s? Glue back together? w/ rivets?

Mine are in spiffy shape, but I only have a couple days on them; bought them used from someone who (from the looks of it) skied them once.

i can't tell if you are being sarcastic or serious. if you are serious, why are all these people ^^ getting their skis warrantied?

all i know is i bent mine and slippy started to pull an edge of one of his and they denied us both.

ok, at least you are talking from experience. but both of those seem like skier damage rather than delaminating topsheet. a delam seems more warranty-able than, "I skied too hard and bent my ski, I want a new one."

it is generally more a matter of proving the date of sale for the 1 year warrenty period

As the purchaser of the Supermojos from GGski I can say that I haven't seen any evidence of delam issues. The topsheet (and rest of the ski for that matter) is in excellent shape and seems pretty bomber. Hope they cured the delam problem with the 103, but I won't be expecting any warranty service on them if I do run into issues...

My understanding was that it was just the 103's that had delam issues and Head took care of that in the changes they made to the Supermojo. I had my local shop ship them back to Head and they sent me the Supermojo's to replace the 103's, no questions asked. As Mooseknuckle says the Supermojo's seemed to fix the problem. I skied them less than 10 days but. the 103's delammed after 6 days. The 103's sidewalls started looking iffy after the first hard day of skiing. If there ahd been any signs of the same issue I certainly would not have sold the skis, I would have just sent them back to get another new pair.
As far as I can tell, they not only fixed the issue they made a better ski. I felt the Supermojo skied better than the 103, the sweet spot on the 103 was much smaller than the Supermojo. If you were not right on the 103's at all times they would chuck you...not the case with the Supermojo. Also the new topskin on the Supermojo is one of the most bomber topskins I have ever seen.

Yeah so I called the Action Sport Outlet guys today to get the skis sent back to Head USA and they didn't believe I had a warranty issue. When I explained to them the story, they said if I sent the skis back to them they would send the skis to the Head rep in Canada, not the one in the U.S. with whom I previously spoke. They said it would be like sending an "Apple computer to Microsoft and asking them about warranty" Like that makes alot of sense. I don't understand why I cannot just send my skis directly to the Head rep. Maybe I am missing something here...

Totally agree with Safety Skier...it was very obvious that my 103's had no damage other than the delam. A bent ski or a pulled edge are very different issues from a delammed topsheet. It is usually pretty easy for a company to tell if damage is from use or abuse and act accordingly and I did not have to ask for the upgraded ski, they just sent it.
I have skied a number of Head products over the years and they are usually very burly. I have hit rocks on Heads at the Bird that would have ripped a Rossi to shreds and it only left a little ding on the base of the Heads. The 103's problem was most likely a result of not enough product testing before launch because the 6 days I skied them were all pow days with no rock or huck impact of any kind.

Fez I fell you and slippys pain. My 103s were in that shit heap pile of delammed heads at phd and I was boned by the rep and owner (and I worked there at the time!) No love I tell ya. So now I just keep reglueing them and limping along. They ski great though.
