Looking in to getting a set, anything to particularly look out for? I mean, they're no the most technical of things, but I would like something that works well and is tough :)

Fenders?
You crazy-ass Americans ;) Yep, that's what I'm looking for.

I thought you may have meant.....
"Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em
Big bottom drive me out of my mind
How could I leave this behind?"
Sheldon Brown tells you pretty much all you need to about fenders here (although note that the brand he refers to, ESGE is now called SKS)Quote:

i have an SKS rear fender that i occasionally use. it clamps on the seat post, which is good and bad. good = if you crash the fender ususally does not break, it just slides around. the bad = it slides around. you have to constantly check it. on big hits, your rear wheel wil push it upwards so that it's at about a 45* angle or more. i rarely bother with it anymore.
just bring 2 changes of clothes with you and let the mud fly!
I second this recommendation. I've tried a lot of different fenders in the past and they all ended up getting ripped off the bike after a few runs. Get some tear-offs for your goggles and some spare clothes and resign yourself to getting filthy.Quote:
