Goode vs. dp skis

Hola, TGR board noob here.
I'm looking at buying some carbon fiber skis, and it appears Drake Powderworks have gone to a wood core.

Here's the deal:
The Goode BC 95 skis (195 cm) are 5.66 lbs per pair, while the dp Wailer 95's (185 cm) are 7.04 lbs. Essentially the same specs (125/95/112-ish).

Anyone ski the Goodes? Do they break in half like the rumors say?

search the archives: there's a lot by DP users, including Stephan Drake himself. not much on goode, but the general similarity between what goode provides and what DB designed back when the two were working together should give you an indication why goode isn't much liked here...

goodes that I have used are too light for skiing much real terrain.

deflected in any change in snow condition...

an all-carbon/super-light ski might be OK in the the absolute right conditions, but there's a trade-off where a little extra weight buys you quite a bit more versatility & durability.

I just did an archives search on the topic, and now I look like Martin Sheen in the opening scene from Apocalypse Now.

At one point I was reading about Hexcel Honeycombs and copyright infringement while totally covered in vomit.

Thanks Splat; I'll probably do that. I had no idea on all the bad blood until I read the 8,450 pages of archive threads; I'm just looking for some fricken' AT skis. I'm not sure what my new pal Archie is looking for.

Usually when something sounds too good to be true (like the Goode BC95s weighing almost 4 lbs less than my Explosiv's), there's reason to be suspicious.

If I can still drop a kilo from my feet with the Wailers, and they ski well, I'm in.

Personally, I think when you're buying a ski like that, you're not just buying a ski, but also customer service. Stuff breaks or goes wrong, it's not a question of "if" but "when," and I think an often overlooked part of business is solving those issues in a timely and effective manner.

SD is on here, accessible, and generally pretty helpful. I've never met Goode, and I can't say anything bad about him, but I also can't say anything good, either. I bent a ski this year (volkls) and a volkl exec was on TGR, and was helpful and responsive. And that's probably 90% of why people on here love PMGear so much--their quick response and close relationship with their customers. (The remaining 10% is equally divided between how sick the BROs are and splat's sexy shirtless poses.)

There's plenty of glowing reviews of the DPs from knowledgable peeps. If you consider buying them, PM MarshalOlson.

Until I read the new Powder I had never heard of Goode skis either (even though I hang here alot). Glad this thread came up.

Here is my problem though......Britney is the one who needs sweet powder skis, but no one (DB, included) makes a small alternative ski (reverse cam/rev side cut). She rips on the Spats but they wear her out, being too huge and heavy.

That was what got me thinking about Goodes (173).....but if they arent a good company, then what. Pontoons in a 179 are my only choice?

How about the new Armada ARG's. They've got to be lighter that spats and come in a 185.
