So I've had my litespeed Tellico for almost 10 years now. It's the full 6/4 version, a super nice XC frame. I can never sell it, as the resale value today is a lot less than what I paid (and I got it at wholesale!). Plus, I really love the ride.
A few years back, I had a rear disc mount welded on. The guy did a fanstastic job - easily as good as the litespeed work.
One problem, the disc mount is a chainstay-mounted hayes standard, not the seatstay standard that every bike has today. New brakes that fit my frame are impossible to find.
I've seen adapters around, but have read that the adapters won't actually work (they adapt the hayes standard brakes for the international standard frame mount, not the hayes standard frame to international standard brakes).
So I'm thinking a 10 year rebuild is in order. Do I convert back to v's? (This will be a purely XC ride). Do I use an adapter (perhaps a 180mm rotor and the new supposedly very small XTR caliper might work)? Do I stump up and have the frame modified again?
I think this is a point where I'd say WWMD? But as a TGR JONG, I have no idea who the M in WWMD is (Maggots? Marshal? Moses?)
