Utards: Apartment Complex Reviews In SLC

I have searched around the forums and seen what the best locations are to live but I have yet to see any reviews of Apartment Complexes. I googled tons of different reviews for complexes in the area, but I have a feeling they are skewed because the apartment complex staff has been adding there own reviews. I am looking for a place around 20 minutes from the U of U on the east side. I know there are tons of apartments not in complexes and will continue browsing Craigslist...Post up your reviews of complexes. Thanks.

BTW: My budget is around 750.00+utilites. Thanks.

house jokes aside, the only advice I have is to avoid the place on Foothill called University Village, or something like that. A few co-workers have been lured in by low prices and had to pay cash to break a lease and move out...

If i were you, I'd avoid the big complexes. Find a house or a room in a house to share with people.

I've only been in one complex (way up on foothill, near Parley's), and it was a dump.

Seriously though, if that's your budget you can afford a house in SLC. Especially if you're willing to bring in a housemate or two.

Lol, I forgot to add that 750+utilities is going to be split between me and my girlfriend. So my actual budget is half of that. Sorry for the confusion. I have searched for reviews on almost every apartment complex and have yet to find a complex with more then 50% positive feedback, so I will most likely go with an apartment in a duplex or something along those lines. Right now I am looking at the Avenues or Sugarhouse. If anyone knows of any properties that fit my budget constraints(less costly is better for me) let me know. Thanks.

in my experience your best bet is to get here and drive around until you find a place you like. Most rentals are advertised with "for rent" signs in their windows or on the street; there isn't much in the way of an organized rental market like there is in some bigger cities. Other than that, keep an eye on craigslist. good luck.

Thanks Stump. I would love to be able to drive around and find a place, but I will be attending the U of U and won't have much time between my arrival and the start of school. I found a few places at http://www.trioapartments.com/ that look promising, hopefully I can get a good amount of photos from the landlord of both the interior and exterior. It seems like craigslist will be the way to go in finding an apartment.
