Knees, meet face, face meet knees.
I've already suffered 2 bloody noses and a bruised cheek this season in 5 knee-to-face incidents. Since I don't have any dental insurance at the moment and I want my face to stay as ugly as it currently is, I wanna buy a full-face helmet so I can avoid some painful and costly dental work.
The only one I've seen/heard of is the Giro Flint SC, and I want to know of any others that might be out there and what people think of them.

I've worn the Red MT-1 with good sucess. It's pricey and snow tends to pack up in the mouth piece if you take high speed diggers in deep pow (as I have been known to.)
But, Red's stuff has always fit me well.
How are you doing that to yourself, man? I've probably had two knee to face incidents in 28 years, and I consider both sort of freak things. The last one was 10 years ago. Are you challenging terrain park landings to joust or something?
Also, there's a dude named 'sid' over at tke K2 boards who skis with Troy Lee Designs D2 mountain bike helmet. Seems to work for him... http://www.troyleedesigns.com/
I recommend gorilla steeze. No really, spread your knees on any cliffs or any other type of landing. Much, much easier (and cheaper) than buying a full-face helmet. It'll probably help you land better too.

they will fog your goggles. Especially if you have a-frames. I have the flint SC, and love it. especially in trees :D. anyone have goggles that HAVEN'T fogged w/ a chinguard?

I've spent 3 days with smith triads and a flint sc, no fogging so far.
triads and SC...no fog issues here either.
*disclaimer...i dont hike with them much, when i do they still dont fog
I think any full-face helmet is going to direct your breath up towards your goggles and be more likely to fog than a non-full-face helmet.
Just brush your teeth in the morning and it won't be so bad. ;)

On the fogging issue, I use Triads, and it's OK going down. On chairs and hiking and such I have to focus breathing out of my nose.
Would something like this work for full face helmets to stop fogging? This is a snowmobile helmet accessory called a breath box. Looks like it would just velcro inplace to divert air downward from the mouth.

I've used A-frames with a Giro SC for 2 years and the only time they fog up is when I am hiking or climbing through snow to get my skis. [Captain Obvious]Taking them off on hikes solves this problem.Quote:

My a-frames just broke (foam peeled away); and they're more than a year old. So oakley won't take them back and give me a new pair (pm me ;))....
considering what to do (and yes, I tried to repair them, and no, epoxy doesn't work for shit on foam)

I've tried on the Flint SC numerous times and came close to sealing the deal but $135 hits my wallet a bit hard. I don't slang rock for a living, ya know?
Don't get me wrong -- I'll definitely get some Flints if they end up being the best fitting fullface that I can find, and so far, I've tried none other.
Dex -- hell if I know, man. I'm kinda prone to freak accidents, I guess. Just yesterday I caught the edge of a swinging door with my face, and not even 20 minutes later, I sliced my thumb open on the door to the laundry chute. Good thing I check both ways before crossing streets. :rolleyes:

Flint SC and Smith Triads are my protection of choice. Having crash tested my new/old Flint last month I highly recommend them. Using old/old one for now. I thought $135 was pricey at 1st but after getting slid 700' over a couple cliffs I'm thinking it was a GOOD deal. Tore off visor, scape to gouge near rear vent almost thru hard shell and stryofoam totally deformed on top. After I took it out to examine. Walked away w/o a headache. Considering the rocks I went over I'm so stoked.
I used to ride w/o chin guard but after a big ass rimed up branch across the face, I use it all the time. 'Cept maybe spring b/c.
I've had nothing but probles w/ mine. They fog up pretty bad, the lenses seem to have leprosy as the mirror finish has been flaking off since I got them, the foam keeps peeling off and (I've only used the included cleaning pad) the insides of the lenses are scratched all to hell.Quote:

I've taken great care of these and have had better luck with cheap Smiths that spent most of their (non-skiing) time in the floor of my car.
Picked up the R.E.D. full similar to the MT-1, but with a detachable, hard jaw piece. As mentioned fogs when your hiking, and I've noticed if the goggs get real wet on the foam, they tend to fog quickly. (Scott Messenger's)
The fit's pretty good, more oval, and the price is a lot less than some of the others, check e-bay, mine was less than $40, out of the box.

just started wearing my bike helmet a few weeks ago. its working pretty good. certainly more foggage, but controlable. sort of a pain for safety meetings thou
