Anyone with some knowledge on how to bend brakes the "do it yourself" way???
I have look P12's with brakes that must barely not fit my iM85's (85mm wide i assume) Shop says they cant bend them out. Phunk says he has made'em stretch. So let me know how you've done it. I appreciate it a lot. thanks and beers on me.
Torch and a vise, has had the most success for me. Just watch out for overheating the arm and melting the plastic off the bottom. You really don't need to heat it that much.
If you don't have this stuff another way is to use a cut-off section of ski-pole or take the grip off, put the brake arm in, and bend.
take one old ski pole and saw it in 1/2.
put boot in binding (already drilled onto ski) and slide end of pole over the end of the brake, then bend it out as much as necessary. Repeat on the other side.
I'll give it a shot and report back.

First I bent the legs out ninety degrees. Then I bent them about 1cm further form the orginal bend. They easily clear 92mm and stop the ski with no problems.

ah another case of ignorant shop fuckers. Went up to the shop, talked to the desk jockey in the back. He tells me "no we can't release these to you"
I say, "yes you can, i didnt buy them here and i will leave with them, wheather you like it or not"
Jockey "let me get the mounting guy"
me"ok"
talk to the mounting guy, he tells me similar story. I tell him I am going to take it to my fried who has a machine shop (little white lie) and have him fix the breaks, if he wants i will bring them back when they are done and he can go over them. He agrees. I ask to see how much they are missing by when they are mounted. He brings them out, he had'nt even put the heel piece on yet. He puts it on and releases the break WELL WHAT DO YOU FUCKING KNOW, THEY FIT. They rub the edge a little bit, but i could bend it enough in the shop by hand to make it not touch. Shop guy sets them up, appoligizes for the Desk jockey fuck up and all the misdirection i was given by unqualified personel. I thank him very much and was on my way.

this was a new shop to me. No good skier shops in Denver area. Service blew ass.
I was a little surprised at all the hubbub over getting standard brakes to fit a 85mm waist. Glad it worked out for ya.

just need some snow to enjoy them in. Probably would not have been so much BS if i would have checked them before I dropped them off.
