Washington Surfing

I have just gotten into surfing two years ago and realized I had some natural talent at it.
I have surfed at Santa Cruz a bunch and once at Cocoa Beach, Florida.
I also recently realized my great-uncle lives on the beach in Westport. The water's super cold and I would have to get a wetsuit, but that's not a problem.
I think I've gotten good enough to do some 6-7 foot waves. Now, but I'm not sure because I've never gotten the opportunity.
Is it worth surfing in Washington, or should I just break out the longboard every time I go to a warm surf spot?

I have only surfed Westport once. Its was the year I did a road trip from So Cal up to visit family in mid-October for my B-day. I stopped in Santa Cruz and scored DOH sets at Steamers (I do have pics). I also scored HH+ at Westport (Sorry, no pics). I found that the water at that time of year was about the same temp as in SC. I got very lucky to have excellent weather at both spots. :cool:

Even though the weather in Western Washington can be fowl for weeks on end at anytime of the year, I would recommend visiting your uncle and checking out Westport. Bring a longboard, gun and shortboard and you should be able to get something fun.

No, I just want to know if it's worth going 3-4 hours to stay at my uncles house and surf in questionable weather while only renting a board because I don't have one.

I'm sure you'll do fine. Natural talent goes a loooong way up here.

Its only a 3-4 hour drive and you get a place to stay. All you have to do is wait for a nice weekend and check the surf reports to make sure there are waves. Rent a board and get wet.

Soon you will be buying a board and making a weekend of the trek as often as you can.

Do it at least once soon and go from there.
