Gear that's so wrong but you can't throw out

You know the stuff: it's mostly from the 80s, neon that burns the retinas, fartbags that have been dutch ovened once too often. It might be worth hundreds to NYC pimps who buy their clothes on ebay but you have an illogical attachment to it and can't bear to ditch it.

I'll start the ball rolling. My 1989 Slalom Jumper. Yes that is pink lycra. Everyone thought it was so cool at the time, I just can't get rid of it. I felt like such a man slapping the gates in it.

The surgeon did an amazing job, I basically have no obvious scarring. The nose looks ok, only someone who looked really closely would realise it was broken (and who wants to do that?) and no teeth have fallen out. I have seen loads of people who know me and they didn't realise anything had happened to my face. So, great result. :)

I had the spyder rad pads when I was 12, and I had that same cow bula band as well. thats pretty sweet gear. I had completely forgotten about that spyder sweater. that brought back some good memories. thanks

Somewhere I still have the Neoprene Ass pad sold by Stowe Patrol in the early 80's. They wore/sold them whenever the snowmakers were on during the day and caused a buildup of ice on the chairs. Really kept your keister toasty, but having that thing flap along behind you was funny as hell.

i have some Spyder slalom stretch pants... the ones with web graphics and plastic shields sewn on them. so cool....

Well...maybe it doesn't count, and this is cross-posted, but the outfit I'm wearing (on the right) belonged to a friend of mine and I'm pretty sure she wore it through the late 90s. She has since given it to me for costume purposes and there's no way in hell I'm letting it go.

The girl on the left looks very confident in the fact that she's not showing the toe.

I just uncovered this. Damn the French had style. In 1986... Another part of my old race gear.

Last used as part of my "Captain Duck Tape" ensemble for a costume party in La Grave, it proved an unexpected hit with the ladies so I haven't been able to bring myself to ditch it. So tight that it is genuinely painful to the little fella and leads to a bizarre asexual look. Two golf balls and a thick pair of socks with a rubber band around the end, (pulled 2/3 of the way down to the knees, naturally) deal nicely with that though. :)
