FS: Dynastar Inspired/Nobis (Legend 8800) MINT

FS: 178 Dynastar Inspired/Nobis (Legend 8800) skis in perfect condition.

Barely skied 6 half days. They are in MINT condition. He bought them new (prolly the only pair left on the planet) at the beginning of the season and didn't use them as much as he thought and is looking to get something new. Mounted with brand new Rossi/Look pivot (axial, or whatever the new version is called) din to 12. Mounted to a 26.5 shell (8.5) He wants to sell the whole setup together for $400 I already tried talking him into selling me just the skis to mount tele but no deal. Bummer because these skis are a classic and mine have been well loved. Actually if someone is just interested in the binding I would buy the skis off him. These also have the sweet Dragon topsheet which I think is the euro version so they look pimp. Read the reviews, these skis rip EVERYTHING with confidence. Dims: 117/89/104 same skis as the legend 8800. I can email pics upon request.

Those sound like the "Little Big Fats" if they have the dragon graphic. Either way the LBFs and the Nobis Inspireds are totally not the same ski as the Legend 8800. The Inspireds were way softer than the 8800. You are trying to sell a soft 3-4 year old 178cm ski on TGR for $400 calling it something it's not? Good luck :rolleyes2

are those binders the pivots or the axials cause there is a big difference

Yep, they sound like the Intuitiv Bigs, though the LBF also has a dragon graphic that's more silhouette-like. They totally are the same ski as the 8800 with a different (IMO cooler) topsheet - the LBF is softer. Nowadays, especially since all the kool kids on Dynastars are skiing LPRs, it would be considered kinda narrow and soft by the cognoscenti, but still a hella fun ski, though prolly not worth $400.

They are not little Big Fat’s
I stand corrected and they are indeed the last model year of the Intuitiv Bigs same footprint and look as the Inspired same ski as the legend 8800 it really hasn’t changed much. They are mounted with the Rossignol Axial2 120 Comp Pro Ski Binding with wide brakes. I don’t see much difference between pivots and axials as they are owned by the same company.

For those interested in a history this info is taken from a 2003 gear guide and that would mean these skis were manufactured 3 years ago but I witnessed them come out of plastic in December and considering they are pretty much unchanged over the last three years I figured they would be comparable to the price of a pair of 8800’s mounted with a new pair of bindings that are currently going for ~$100. Like I said I am selling them for a friend who paid over $400 and I even disagreed with posting that price here, but I threw it out there. It is likely he’ll lose some $ on the deal but they barely got used at all. If you’re interested make a (reasonable) offer, knowing the details. And yes if you want pics I can email I don’t have time to post pics here.

It's hardly surprising that Dynastar would attempt to trade on the name of its most marketable freeride team member. As much as anyone, Jeremy Nobis, the former US Ski Team ace, redefined big-mountain skiing, with his Super G arcs down monstrous Alaskan faces. And it's not surprising that Nobis would want a tool like this for the job: wide, but still responsive; damp and stable as only a metal-laminate ski can be; and not overly aggressive in the sidecut department, which is a good thing at 60 mph. In other words, a race ski for powder.

The original "Rhino Chaser" remains in the lineup, though it's essentially the same ski as the Nobis. (So why not save the extra $25 and get the cooler graphics of the Big?) The V-profile prow, like the hull of a speedboat, is designed to part the waters, as it were. The Big lives up to its name, without being overly burly. A nice fit for "touch" skiers.

A little less tail (compared to the Nobis) makes the Little Big Fat a lot more forgiving. It's aimed at the youth market (in case you couldn't tell from the flame-breathing graphics). So a turned up tail makes it suitable for pipe and park use. Metal laminates and a wood core give it plenty of power and reasonable edge-grip on hardpack. But with an 88 waist, it comes into its own in powder

^It is still a different FLEX PATTERN then the 8800. Different ski I still maintain, same shape different ski. I owned them both, I sold them both in stores, the Nobis was softer than the 8800.

And maybe that is due to the totally different topsheet materials used.

I am looking at the 2003 gear guide right now. Page 142. The publication date is Oct 2002, meaning it was probably on the stands in late August - meaning the skis were available quite a ways prior to this issue. Dynastar usually releases their next year model skis around President's day if that gives some idea. Considering 06/07 models are already WAY available right now, 5 years is spot on.
