I've been riding the Rig for about two months, maybe 1000 miles. It handles the bumpy single track well, but big hills still kick my ass. It does creak a little more than I would like. Sometimes I miss the speed of a geared bike.
first bike in years and you went single speed? brave man.
Those are tits! Someday I'm going to have to try a 29 'er.
while on the subject of single speed 29ers...anybody have experience with's kona's disc/ss solution? the theory looks pretty cool. does it work as well as regular track drop-outs?
Thanks for the compliment but it's not so much bravery as me being locked into getting either GF or Trek through a hook up. I was looking at a Cake 2 DLX but the Rig sounds like a blast and will be pretty easy on the upkeep...and it's half the price. Next season I'll probably buy a XC or DH specific bike.Quote:

I've been pretty happy with the system on my '05 Unit. The only problem I've noticed is some slippage on the drive-side bolts, but if I really crank them down I don't have an issue. They fixed it this year (different bolts); I have been meaning to order new ones but it hasn't been much of a problem. It is very convenient not having to realign the disc brakes whenever you need to take the wheel off and on.Quote:
