Single Speed conversion - Is the frame up to it ?

After almost 17 years of service the time has come to turn my Yo! Into the single speed it needs to be.

I’m not so concerned on the mechanics and options of how to turn it into a single speed as I am concerned about the integrity and strength of the frame.

The design goes way back to 1990 or so ... Steel with a 1” steerer, and a yester-tech sized BB. Anyone ever have any issues breaking a frame after going to SS ?

I’m not sure whether to convert it, or just buy a new fangled SS and put the Yo! In my museum as is … maybe even put the original Yo fork back on it.

It's steel. Ride it. A single cranker YoEddy would look pretty bitchin' in my book.

I agree! I had a Yo! back in the day until UPS bent the shit out of it while shipping. Not a day goes by that I do not wish I had that beautiful blue to purple fade frame to build up into a single speed.

all you need is the chain tensioner, or try to get the grear ratio to make the TC

Chain tensioner OK. White Ind Eno hub built onto nice rim = $$$$

Do it, you won't regret it. That will be one sweet ride.

And not one horror story about trashing a frame ... exxcellent Smithers.
I'll probably go the tensioner route. Too many people have issues with the eccentric hubs, which would do nothing but piss me off after spending $$$.

my white ind hub has been great for a year+ now ......

my yo died off the top of a car at 70 :nonono2: green to blue fade. I miss that bike.
