kewl! kinda like one of those "choose your own adventure" books that kids read, except this time its YOUR ass on the line...
What the hell were they thinking going for a 5 hour tour for a short run. They should have just punched it up to the pass up the slope they planed on skiing. Theyda been able to get 2-3 runs in and been back at the pub for beers in time for dinner.
Maybe we should have a maggot/minion interactive backcountry tour where Beaver's options would be where the hard choices are :D

That SUCKED!!! I kept waiting for the skiing part.
You are straightlining a face, slough ripping down on both sides, with a 60 foot cliff directly ahead and closing, T-minus ten seconds. To the right of the cliff is a funnel terminating in a terrain trap. To the left of the cliff is a fat motherfucking crevasse.
A: Continue straight lining to the right of the cliff and hope to outrun your slough and avoid being buried in the terrain trap.
B: Continue straight lining to the left of the cliff and air the crevasse like Pep Fujas or Mike Douglas, throwing at least a corked 7 over it.
C: Continue straight lining right over the cliff and look at the sky, laying out a fatty back flip, Morrison style.
D: Being the pussy-ass bitch that you are, make some turns to control your speed and ride the high wall of the funnel to the right until the slough has passed, and make gay little epic ski turns all the way down.

i'm constructing a snow cave in my office as we speak.
so the moral of the story is whenever youre in trouble in the backcountry just dig a snow cave and go to bed. Its gonna be all better tommorrow somehow...

I think it is very important to think the worst. When entering the bc, be prepared. That not only includes your hardware but your brains as well.

"And remember kids, always be ready to bivy!" seems like a decent message.... but the message here seems to be "Always bivy or DIE!"
I almost always carry extra pair of extra thick wool socks, overmittens, an emergency blanket, sometimes an extra insulation layer... but thats a last resort!
