help me beat the system (mouse inactivity log-off)

Well looks like "the man" is trying to break me down and ruin my good thing. Working from home rocks, since I wasn't on the clock, till now. Those bitches, it was inevidable, everyone is on it, even the people in the office, the difference being we will get logged off and punched out of the time clock if our mouse remains inactive for more than 10 mintues. It might have something to do with keystrokes as well. It sucks, we are basically on a quota basis, we do 7 studies a day, every day. My skill is that I am good at it and it doesn't take me nearly 8 hours to get it done. So now I will have to find a way to stay online for 7 hours or more a day, even if i am done my work.

Anyone know anything about this type of system? I have found them on the internet with searches, just nothing as of how to beat it, yet.

any help appreciated, i am kinda buddies with the tech guys, but it will be tough to approach them about this to get more technical details. System won't be in place for another week or two, so i have time to prepare. Maybe build a moving mousepad?

ought to be able to build an oscillating table with raised sides that makes your mouse travel like cargo on a pitching boat...

You could get tricky, but the easiest option is probably just to wrap the cord around an oscillating fan with the mouse dangling off to the side. This probably works best with an optical mouse.

In the software testing world there are mouse and keystroke recorders that are used to test user interfaces. Record for a bit and set it to endless playback.

a couple things available, never used any of them- it could be that the computer is being locked, and not actually logged off.

This should keep your mouse in motion, just build it up so it wont fall off. As far as keys, as said, bobbing bird.

There are several software mouse activity generators out there that were made in order to fool pay per time advertising software you could install (they'd pay you to have their ads run but only if you were active which they'd determine by mouse movement) people used those to make a few extra bucks. Google is your friend.

my wife might nix this one, but the other ideas are helping. probably need some kind of replay of mouse and keyboard strokes.

let's see...i took an assembly language programming class where we scheduled interrupts. I failed that class pretty hard, but if you knew what you were doing, I'm pretty sure you could write a program that sends keystrokes every so often. same deal with the mouse. You don't actually have to move the mouse or hit keys, but you fool the system into thinking you do.

Seriously though, you know at the toy stores they have those wacky balls with the little fuzzy weasel attached to it like a tail that zig zag randomly along the floor? (battery powered) My cat loves this thing. You can get one and build a corral around your mouse pad area and let this thing go to town. It will randomly bump your mouse, so it will not appear to be in a pattern.

I'm guessing this will work...just get a macro program (there might be something for free on www.download.com ) and create a macro where the mouse clicks something, and enters a few letters in it. There will most likely be a timer in the program, or just set it on repeat (there damn well better be that) and head out.

Adopt a 14 year old boy, set him in front of the computer, and tell him about all the hot chicks on the internet.

I think that the mechanical devices are hard to trust and make fool proof but may be your best bet. If you're on a network the software ideas, which are more reliable, could get you redflagged pretty easily. Unless you're aloud to do whatever you want on this machine and they never invade it through the network then go with one of the programs. Research which are hard to detect obviously. Remember the ad scammers weren't sharing their hardrives with the companies they were duping, are you?

I am not on "THE" network, as I am satellite and solo. I can do whatever I want to the machine, but they can pcanywhere into my machine when its on. I am lost on the "ad scammers" comments, but I only share a data folder with the network.
