WWMD?: place to live during summer....

so, my lease ends in May and my lease for my house for next year starts in August...


I am taking summer classes so I sort of need an actual house for the summer......if I was just working I would probably camp/couch surf for the summer, but thats not the case..

I am supposed to move into my friends house for the summer.....pretty cheap rent, but I thought I was gonna sublease and it turns out the landlord wants me to sign a lease and pay a deposit...


I just payed a 700 dollar deposit for the fall, and now Im supposed to pay a 500 deposit for this house just to live there for the summer...


It just seem crazy to me to be involved in so many leases and shit all at once....this will mean I will have 3 different deposits out at one time...


trying to figure out if I should just try to bum it all summer....or figure out another option...

Live in your van in the school parking lot, shower in the gym and stdy in theh library. Costs next to nothing. I had a friend go to UVic for 4 years on that program, 2 months should be a piece of piss.

fuck it, im gonna do it....save mad loot and as long as I throw down on the kegerator refills I can use my friends couch and shower...

+ security deposits are always a PIA to get back

go set up a long term camp up in the indian peaks wilderness area. One of my summers in boulder was spent living at the rainbow lakes, got to class just fine. sleep on couches....or some chicks bed on bar nights.

phish i've seen some ads around campus for subleases in Bear creek over the summer. Pretty cheap, not a bad idea.....

What you guys got for next yr?

next year I thought we were gonna have open rooms still, but it turns out some kids we know rented the upstairs...sorry about that bro...

I did Co-op work terms at Uvic so for two summers i camped in the school parking lot living out of my truck in summer. The guards knew to check on me. I had a stove, a nice bed for the truck and all my surfboards and bikes locked up. Got to use the gym to shower and the library to sit on a couch etc. The money I saved sent me to Baja and Oregon coast surf trips and bought gear that i broke.

I lived in the uvic law parking lot because i was a student there and i hung out with friends who had actual houses and homes a lot. Most of the other guys lived in the lots closer to res so I might remember if I could see it again but seems like a lot of Uvic students had VW vans. My truck had 3 boards on the roof and sails and kayak so it was pretty recognizeable.

either way I will still camp out alot.....

Don't sign anything and don't put money down, just tell them you are good for the dough monthly and to like it or leave it. Deposits and leases and roomies are bunko. Best way to lose friends is to live/have contracts with them. Find some studio. Or sublease a room from some established family/cougar with a house. (in that case I would sign or deposit)

well im signing a lease with the landlord/house owner...

if I dont move in, my friends will all have to share the cost of the rent for the empty room.....
