A little taste of heaven partial TR

Ok so Im trying to do some homework but its not really happening right now so I thought I would post some pics of my trip to Kicking Horse from 3/7-3/9. There are a bunch more pics than this but my buddy took all the pics and still hasnt made me a cd yet. Let me just say the Kicking Horse is the best ski area I have ever been to and will definitely be spending a month out here next winter. Oh, and I wanna say thank you to my buddy kyle for showing me the goods.

You were lucky to get good snow but you really need to visit some other mountains.. how can you say that after the season we've had at Crystal :nonono2:

Kicking Horse is without doubt the most over rated/hyped area I've ever skied at.

i would agree that it is a very over rated mountain

umm, well maybe i havent skied as many mountains as you have, but maybe you just didnt ski in the right places. We have had a great season at Crystal, but Crystal doesnt have over 4,000 vertical feet. Not to mention the chutes we were skiing make Brain Damage and Pinball look like gaper runs, the only chute that I think compares to the chutes at Kicking Horse is the Dogleg chute, but even that has considerably less vertical footage. Then again, maybe your being sarcastic:confused: .

you are lucky that big wind loaded cornice didnt drop onto you though. cornices are best avoided if you want to spend lots of time in the backcountry they will kill you.

Looks like a damn good time to me. Is all of that lift accessed terrain or is some of that in the BC. Sorry, not that familiar with the area.

its good pics yes indeed but how many back country types going jumping off of big cornices? Ill do a big cliff over a cornice any day of the week! that cornice is big enough to set off a massive slide.
Still like the pics and TR though.

All of that terrain can be accessed by a 15-20 minute bootpack once you get off the gondola or the stairway to heaven quad. There is also a bunch of great inbounds terrain at the resort too, despite what the naysayers might say. This place is gonna be huge in the near future, my advice is to get there while it is still uncrowded. The longest we waited for a gondy was 2 or 3 minutes!

Also, I was well aware of the danger posed by the cornices. We did a fair amount of cutting and shit seemed pretty damn stable. I do realize it was still a risky endeavor but the only person i was putting at risk was myself, and I felt comfortable so I went for it, o well.

Like i said good TR.

I stay way away from cornices and wont huck them. If you feel comfortable hucking them then go for it. I would hedge my bets that it wont be long before one breaks on you though. Dont take it as beening cold its a fact that 99% of the time those things are going to break at one time or another.
