Is Sandy the place to move if I want to attend the University and find a somewhat cheaper place to rent? I will want to ski Snowbird and Alta the most. I looked on Craigslist.org and rents didn't seem to bad(not like CO ski towns or Boulder at least). Plenty of waiting table jobs out there? I just don't know much about SLC and Sandy other than the best skiing.

If your priority is quick access to skiing, then yes. If your priority is getting to school quick, then no.

Avoid Sandy like the plague.
Sandy/Midvale is great for access to skiing, like they've said.
I've lived in Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, Midvale, Sandy and Sugarhouse. They all have great attributes, but I'd recommend Sandy or Cottonwood Heights.
MyBad- for a Colo point of reference, the people telling you to move to sandy are basically telling you that you should move to highlands ranch vs. moving to Denver proper.
Thanks. Upon thinking about it I guess anywhere in SLC is going to be much closer to skiing than Boulder sans Eldora or Eldorka. I have to remember that anywhere I go in SLC the skiing is going to be closer and the drive easier.Quote:

the people coming from Sandy have a stop sign + right turn that those coming from BCC don't have. It isn't a big deal really but when you're talking the difference of a mere 5 mins between sandy and sugarhouse and toss in the possibility of getting fucked at the stopsign it equals out a bit.

Oh, and since I lived in Sandy for 20 years, it is definately a nice place to settle if you have a few kids, and are looking for a peacefull place far away from nightclubs.
Look in the avenues, in sugarhouse, in downtown slc. if you don't want sub-urban life.
