shipping skis

maybe this is tech talk.
what method is best for shipping skis??
i need to send them (no binders) to arrive in the midwest within 3 days.
fedex? ups? us mail??
any tips??

UPS, never United slow postage system
Keep the box tight to skis so they don't get banged around.

UPS if you want to pay exorbinant amounts of cash, FedEx is a bit cheaper. I've had good luck w/ USPS and it's much cheaper.

I ship quite a few skis and I've found FedEx Ground to be much cheaper than UPS.

USPS is not terribly expensive and not terribly slow; but with the post office it just depends on where you're shipping from and where you're shipping to.

Either way, put something between the skis and tape them together. Using one of the flat single pair boxes is cheapest and seems to protect the skis pretty well.

Insurance isn't a bad idea either.

P.S. If you take the skis to a FedEx facility rather than one of those Mom & Pop mailbox places, you'll keep more coins in your pocket as well.

Just sent a pair to CA from NYC, and USPS was cheapest--two days. Sometimes, Priority is cheaper than parcel post because of a bizarre rate structure for oversized packages.

I've had good luck using UPS and Fedex alike. 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other...

I ship a lot of stuff, FedEx ground is easily the cheapest&best. Go to their website and find the closest dropoff center. :cool:
PS I shipped a pair of skis to Denver last week - UPS wanted $30.87 - FedEx ground was $22.15 for the exact same package.

cool, thanks. packing them isnt a problem, just wanted to make sure i wasnt getting hosed on rates.
