Hey female bikers I need seat help! I have some serious issue's with my seat and uhhhh and certain parts of my anatomy.
Any women out there that can reccomend a comfy seat that can help stop/get rid of hot spots?? It is like torture!

Terry makes female-specific saddles. Have you tried their seats?
At the shops I've worked at, ladies seems to love the Terry Butterflys and Specialized Body Geometry saddles.
I tried a Terry saddle and hated it. I have a Specialized... Avatar? I think? (Seems like a bizarre name for a saddle, but I think that's right.) It's one with a channel and different options for width. I have the men's version in the medium width, I think. Many women's saddles are too wide and it makes them hard to move around the bike. You just need to pick something that lines up with your sit bones and isn't too bulky. Lots of cushioning or gel or any of that crap just makes things worse - you're better off with minimal padding just where you need it where your bones sit on the saddle.

My problem isn't my sit bones (although they get sore)...It is in a more sensitive area, and the pain is excrutiating! I figured gel/padding would help that?!?!
I will keep tryings til hopefully I get this resolved! Thanks ladies..and keep the advice coming!
Gel and padding will make that problem MUCH worse. Trust me. If anything, get one with a cutout or channel there.Quote:

As was previously stated, pics of said problem area would help ;) Where do you live? I might be able to point you towards a shop with the new "assometer" (I forget what the real name is) from the folks at Body Scanning. Jay Townley and assoc. has developed a new tool for measuring you up that really works. It gives you the saddle dimensions and style that "should" fit you best and most of the shops that are using it also have a saddle library for you to work with.Quote:

Alright that link was nasty I am taking it out. Mine is much prettier than those anyhow...
I read an article in one of my bike mags, actually it was a woman XC Racer describing her bike setup, she said she that her seat was turned of center just a bit to avoid those problem areas, ill look through my old mags and see if i can dig it up.
Not sure about shops in vermont, but a lot of local shops here will let you take a saddle on your bike for a test ride. As long as you return in it in new condition, you can try others without buying until you find one that works well. You should check into that.
