BTW, fresh lines were had at Brighton today...they're almost always there if you know where to look.

Liked it a lot. The sun had made the snow on the apron a bit heavy, but the 105s didn't care.

No pics really from me. Got seperated at the end while climbing the final portion of the ridge when a wind formation broke under me during a kickturn and I took a scary 100 foot slide toward a cliff band below. I wasn't willing to attempt to ascend the path back up, so powho and I ended up skiing down the north facing argenta slide path. Which also was good. Like knee deep blower good. Kind of disappointing that I didn't get to the peak (i think i was all of 50 feet short), but I guess it just means I'll have to go back there again. Woe is me.

edit. And just to clarify: it wasn't any type of avalanche. When the footing broke away, I ended up on a firm, fast windcrust that was scoured clean. It was difficult to self-arrest. It was a very strong reminder about staying focused and aware of ALL the hazards/consequence that are around you, even when it appears you're safe.

No, the booter wasn't there, and there was intermittent chest deep snow that we were breaking trail though. I was trying to on/near rocks, and it seemed to help.

What other way would you suggest to gain the summit from the Argenta side? I know there is a way up the Lawnmower side.

There wasn't a skin track heading up, and it seemed liked we would have to put one in on a somewhat crusty and slick W/SW aspect around the side of the ridge, so I think we just all reached the consensus that booting was preferable.

As for quarterbacking, yeah...I was trying to preempt it. I had considered not even writing anything about it, but figured that I learned a good lesson, and maybe someone else could too. Besides, who gives a shit about a bunch of internet hate?
