so, moving to denver metro area in the next week or two for a job....finally. i think most of my work will be north of the city, around golden, westminster, broomfield, arvada, and maybe up to Boulder. I gotta find a place to live next and need some good areas or places to check out. Probably looking for an apartment or possibly a townhouse with max 2 bedroom. Anyways, hoping some of you front range maggots could help out.
the highlands is pretty damn good and you can still get some pretty good values that won't entail a ton of rehab. plus you'll have easy access to where you'll be commuting to.
if you've got md9 skills, possibly the capitol hill area.
if you want to beat traffic to the hill and commute a little. Genessee, Golden, and Evergreen might be the deal.
The only thing wrong with the primer is that Colorado Blvd. is not the most infuriating street in Denver, it is Speer.
Speer? No Way It only bottles up bad right at rush hour and in the beauty zone (CC) otherwise it is a great way across a wierd chunk of town.
jtq- you can access any of those work places anywhere from in the city of denver easy enough...but...in what kind of neighborhood would you like to live? If you say bland tract housing + big condo apts that'll be a different area than if you'd like to live in a bohemian enclave (did I just say that? Fuck Edie Brikel or however you spell her name).
not so sure about a bohemian enclave. i'm not an extravagant person and i'll be all alone so maybe a place that's not necassarily new and will be easy to get to know my neighbors. i'm 24 so maybe if there's somewhere that people in that demographic would live.Quote:

If you've got coin and you're looking for an apartment type of place as a 24 year old. LoDo is your primary choice. Walking distance to more bars, restaurants, and trouble than 1 man alone could ever conquer. Plus you've got easy access to the 20th street exit north of town.
I lived at a place downtown that was awesome. I think it was the Denver House. 1205 Logan I think, anyway it is a large high rise. I paid 625 for a one bedroom apartment with a view of downtown and the mountains. It was an incredibly sweet deal. It has an indoor pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub. It also had a pool table but that was shot. I have some pictures of the views, I'll throw em up.
just finished up a three day long D town housing search bonanza, this thread and the thread referenced have some good & accurate details, so pay attention!
Rents are actually starting to go back up here and there, but as one of the wise Denver sages said in the other thread, Denver is a patchwork on a block by block basis, so you gotta go and really look to see for yourselves. Tons of cool places in between the crackhouses and overpriced apartments, good luck.
Given the area that you are needing to get to for work being mostly on the north west side of Denver, and that you are looking for an apartment, I would suggest Green Mountian around 6th and Union. Alot of apartment complexes in the area, good access to downtown, as well as Golden, Boulder and Arvada/Westminster. I lived there for a couple of years and liked it alot. Another area to check out that I have lived is Wheat Ridge, although they do not have very many good apartment complexes, but real close to I 70 which makes for easy access to the mountians.
I live about a quarter mile from 6th and Union. Realtively cheap area, quiet, ample parking, plus you can ride all the front range single track right from your door. You're on top of Berthoud in 45 minutes. Just close enough I can do dawn patrols there and still be in my cube by 9:30. [cartman] Westsiiiiiiiiiiide[c]Quote:
