I swear, I cannot stand those people.
I'm getting married August 26th, and they are starting to lay the old Catholic guilt trip on us about not having a mass for the ceremony. In a very close minded and shitty way. "Which one of you is ashamed?" was their big argument.
They are just being assholes about this.
So I come to the maggot masses in need of humorous and socially unacceptable ways of handling this.
Tell them you talked to the priest, and he said you can't get married in the church because you have stuck it in the poopenhausen already.
But seriously, that is total bullshit. We had a totally Jesus-free wedding and we got TONS of compliments on the ceremony from even the most die-hard catholics. Including the one who married us (not a priest or anything).

My in-laws made my wife and I get married 2X w/in 3 mos. The first marraige was a "State" marraige for "The Fatherland". The second marraige was in church. Everything was in German and Latin. I didn't know what was going on.
I'm not a very good Catholic......really I just keep it up for football season.;)

Sorry, man but I have to agree with the inlaws. If you are Catholic, then you should have a Catholic wedding.
I am technically Catholic because I was confirmed, but have renounced Catholicism shortly after college, so I am no longer Catholic.
Do you like being Catholic? It doesn't sound like you do. If you did, I guess you would want to have a Catholic wedding. I think this is a little deeper than just having a Catholic wedding.
We can have a Catholic wedding without having a mass.
If we do that, I don't have to exclude all of my groomsmen, my father, and most of my family from part of the ceremony (the eucharist).

No, they shouldn't have a Catholic wedding if they don't want! They should do what they want! But then if they do that, then I don't think they are really Catholics.
